Yes you are correct that federal law enforcement can sweep in, but only reason why I bring up The Insurrection act is because what we have been seeing is more then just "protesters who are harming their own"
The Insurrection Act specifically § 253 (full reference 10 U.S. Code § 253) could be evoked as the City of Seattle and the State of Washington have been unable and/or unwilling to enforce the law. But it would be bad optics to do so unless a federal law enforcement tried a raid and failed. I am not advocating nor saying it should not be done, just that the law is there to be used.

The glowers would fuck it up on purpose and then instantly go public and spin stories about how Trump recklessy ordered them to do the raid against their advise.

Insurrection Act only applies sending in actual troops. Absolutely nothing prevents deployment of armed law enforcement to enforce other federal laws, though. You could even do this surgically, sending in a heavily armored specialist extraction team to go haul off any leaders of this shit who have violated federal law. I remain both puzzled and amazed at the Seattle Police Chief and why she hasn't acted to shut this down herself. Here's a little known fact that often gets exploited. Mayor's are not Law Enforcement Officers, unlike Governors who are the States Chief Law Enforcement Officer. Mayors are technically not in the chain of command with regard to law enforcement at all. All they do is pay the bills. Mayors are not supposed to be determining which laws to enforce or not. And technically you're not supposed to be able to fire a Police Chief or Police Officers for enforcing the law. That's kind of the point. Somehow we've gotten away from that to the extent that we allow vermin like Bill deBlasio to unilaterally make up the rules.
