It's kind of true, it's been some back and forth and Sawant's immediate plan wasn't accepted because an existing contract prevents it, but yeah, they're looking for a slow roll of majorly decreasing the police force, with another vote on Monday. But then again Seattle PD has had tons of positions open for a long time, that's part of the reason why some SPD make crazy salaries (like north of 300k in a few cases) because they can work 80 or 100 hour weeks with insane overtime and its allowed because the SPD is just really really understaffed. There's also intereference from a judge because the DOJ had to get involved with the SPD about 10 years ago*. So some of this reduction might be done through attrition and just closing open positions I'm guessing.
* Yeah Ive been redpilled and seen the OVerton window shift away, but you gotta remember that some bad eggs in the SPD are actually really racist for real and powertripping assholes. Dealing with the cops in any other surrounding city is so much better - Belleveu, Redmond, Renton, Issaquah, they're polite and businesslike. SPD are powertripping assholes, but theyre the devil we know, the CHAZ powertripping assholes proved themselves so much worse. Any long time Seattle Kiwis remember the "I'm going to beat the Mexican piss out of you homie!" incident or John Williams being shot on the sidewalk unprovoked because of his carving knife?

Glenn Reynolds has been suggesting for the last couple of days that the CHUD/ riot stuff is polling very badly in Democrats' internal polls, and that Biden may pivot to a strong Law-and-Order platform in the next week or two. It would especially make sense if Kamala Harris ends up being his VP pick.

In other Seattle batshit insanity news, UW meteorologist Cliff Mass has had his radio segment cancelled by the Tacoma NPR station KNKX after this blog post documenting Seattle's decay into chaos, criticizing the violent rioters and City Hall's hands-off attitude towards them.
Cliff Mass is quite popular in the Puget Sound region for his detailed analysis and forecasts both on his blog and his now cancelled radio segment. He's a must read for any area resident with even a passing interest in meteorology. Of course the Seattle Times has tried to spin his post as him criticizing BLM as a whole, which is the predictable response to any criticism of anything associated with the protests or riots. He's also recently butted heads with the climate doomsday cult and criticized his department for promoting "climate justice" activism over actual climate science. I get the sense that he's a typical scientist: naive about playing politics or just unwilling to do so. Which is, in my opinion, a very good thing for society these days, if not his own prospects. Good thing he has tenure.

I think the bullshit in Portland is finally a bridge too far for many people who've previously expressed support for the 'protests'. Even the mayor is trying to sound tough after the rioters attempted to burn down a police station with staff hunkered inside. It's hard to get a pulse on the reality of things in the USA when all the media, both traditional and online, is nothing but hardcore propaganda and manufactured narratives. You can't even trust online comments for the most part because everything is so heavily censored to slant the discourse a particular way.
I'm not in America so I'm probably a bit out of touch, but I see this election turning into a repeat of 2016 insofar that the polls are dead wrong about Biden having any sort of meaningful lead. These riots are a gift to Trump. But as entertaining as they are to watch, it saddens me that the USA is having to deal with this as I don't believe for a second that any of it's organic. Many of the hardcore rioters are going to be surprised when they're slapped with criminal charges in a month or two. The amount of video taken at these riots make it a real challenge to get away with spur of the moment felonies while surrounded by 100's of people.

The longer the riots go on the more they play into Trump's hands. While they may have been organic at the very beginning I firmly believe the DNC/other bad actors like China tried to steer them for their own ends with the endgame being getting Trump to implement the Insurrection Act which would promptly get jammed up by insubordinate judges and generals. Then presumably he'd resign in shame after the massive manufactured backlash and it'd be a clear path to November. Trouble is that was very much a time limited Hail Mary play and since Trump didn't take the bait the DNC has been left with their cities burnt and their golem out of control and embarrassing them every weekend. If they do decide to cut their losses and try to throw them under the bus soon it'll be a pity that the Milwaukee DNC has gone full virtual since I'm sure BLM and Antifa would try make 1968 look like a joke.

There's also the follow up claim that selling these artisinal slave-chains made Sweden far richer than it's ever been and that includes present day. Amazing, if true (it's not and no source ever materialized for that either).

The worst part is that dozens of people have actually died as a result of these riots either directly, or because of people taking advantage of the lack of cops. Burglaries, thefts, assaults, all way up, and property damage is obviously sky high.
Not CHOP (Seattle government are being assholes), but Portland specifically has released data that shootings and homicide tripled in just the last month.

I think it would be good for the country to allow Portland or Seattle to cave in to the protesters to allow complete chaos in the area. It would destroy the city but it would save the rest of the country by not to giving in to the impossible demands of the BLM movement.
