Snob is wrong. Bet is goonified since the trailer has the Asian girl bent over licking on the floor. That is a specific sex thing and not a "natural human position" as the gooners would say. Name something similar in Breaking Bad or Star Trek or whatever -- it's highly unlikely, and if something so explicit is there, chances are it is explicitly tied to sex. Chibi hates Bet not because he can't goon but because, like all weebs, he hates his own culture and views Japanese culture and media as irreproachably perfect. He refuses to build and contribute to his society. He copes by saying that, since Western culture sucks and the people in authority hate him anyway, there's no reason for him to be a productive member of society. Netflix represents authority here because Chibi thinks it's what all Westerners watch, so his hatred for Netflix is a hatred of the Westerners that comprise the society (aka authority) that rejects him. Chibi's racism is a bad coverup for this.

And yes, I figure the use of the him ruins his fantasy of being a self insert or something. Someone like Esau should be viewed in contempt, honestly. Not due to his racism, but because of his worship of what comes from the outside and refusal to contribute to society, like you said.

Personally I like anime with a good Dub. Subs are fine. But if I'm doing shit I want to be able to listen. It also helps with binging a show.

Is there a difference between CR subs and dubs though? If they're simulcasting original audio with dubbed audio, I would imagine the subs are transcripts of the dubs. That throws out any argument of literacy if the base premise is that Japanese speaking viewers are excluded. Sub v dub doesn't really make sense in that case if they're not mutually exclusive.
Does it factor in using the subs with the dubs as closed captions? Or original audio without subs for CR users that are Japanese speaking?
