Chillout Thread - Relaxing Music

Very interesting group that came about a couple decades ago. The singer's background (Debbie Diamond) was more in punk rock. The guitarist/producer (Rick Boston) of this band came from a more jazz background, made his living writing scores for some movies, and fronted a small-time indie rock band. The Januaries formed to bring back a retro sound of the 60's, back before the popularity of reimagining sounds from past eras.

This whole album is fantastic, but I really like this song because it has a big resemblance to the type of Bosa Nova music Tom Jobim wrote in the 60's. Actually, this group broke up because of creative differences. Debbie wanted to go more 60's pop, while Rick wanted to go a more jazzy route, to have a more Stan Getz/Jobim type of sound (which you can really hear in this song). On top of that, He was trying to get with Debbie, while she didn't show any interest towards him. Unfortunately, this powder keg situation blew up this group, and they only released one album. That being said, they at least left behind a very solid album.

Edit: Here's a remix of this sound by Thievery Corporation that may be more of your taste if you don't like the original. It's how I actually first heard of the Januaries.
