Chimp Crazy - HBO Documentary about a crazy bitch kidnapping a chimp and hiding him in her basement

Should animal abusers be mauled by primates as a punishment?

Fucking rolling Stones journo scum cucked us out of an episode of Tanya throwing a tantrum cuz she wanted to meet the tiger King guy
Why am I surprised she wanted that to happen of course she did 😭 she probably thinks he's wrongfully imprisoned.

Okay finished episode 2 and as much as I hate PETA, having the other side smuggle baby animals for influencers is pretty atrocious and more immoral than being a hypocritical activist. Cool story about Travis, pretty horrific that the woman survived the mutilation. Sad to think that we'll never have monkeys in films again, one more thing for the pile of why modern films suck donkey balls.

The whole court case for contempt is absolutely retarded, it really shows how all those activist organizations are wasting massive amount of money and government time for petty power struggles rather than fucking help actual animals being abused that don't have the benefit of being exotic. Who gives a shit where is a Chimpanzee that's going to die in a decade? Why not spend the millions of dollars on NOT euthanizing thousands of dogs.

Didn't the movie Nope have a real chimp in it or am I misremembering?

Okay finished it. The sticking point for me is the whole heart failure thing was correct or not since it vastly changes how to treat Tonia since she argued that a veterinarian said Tonka didn't have a long time to live and the documentary just ignores it despite its massive repercussions. Either Tonia really did try to kill him to remove that burden over herself, making her a massive hypocrite, or PETA went along some fuckery to pretend he is still alive (which they 100% will do and makes you wonder how a chimpanzee that's been dozens of years in captivity will react to suddenly being free in a social circle). That "we'll let you go if you never associate yourself with any type of animal" clause in the settlement is some cartoon villain level pettiness. Every member of PETA should be thrown to a chimpanzee cage.

Also it's pretty interesting how those monkey owners will just flip a button mentally to kill the chimps once they are a danger, but still double down on trying all over again.

Besides that it's just sad. At least with lions they can just lay outside in an enclosure all day and be content with that and a bit of game, chimpanzees are just thrown into cage like freak family members while the mother acts as if it's fine.

If you only knew how bad things really are.

Well, yes, a whole host of them.
Wish I had a Dad joke react to give you for this lmao

From what I can tell Tonka was just overweight. That's what the documentary claims and that he isn't in kidney failure. Chimps in the wild live around 30 years or more so these captive chimps dying in their teens isn't normal. It's because of bad husbandry and abuse.

Don'tlock a chimp in your basement he'sonly gonna get angry and hate you. Give himbanana he may or may not maul you next sunday, depends o how the chimp feels.

Know what? Fuck PETA you should be allowed to keep chimps in a locked metal box and feed them McDonalds.
Why? Because it's America and if you want to die at the hands of a fucking monkey that's your prerogative.
I'd become friends with a chimp and teach it to do human shit like the one guy did to the baboon in ye olden days. Can't maul someone if you're too busy chilling flipping some railcar switches or operating a computer.

Tiger King was a better documentary. At least in Tiger King you can hold out for longer thinking that the King has some redeeming qualities, but Tonia is just repulsive from the beginning. I can't think that any of the women who kept a 200 pound intelligent wild animal in a tiny cell, about the size of a solitary confinement cell in prison, were ever in the right for keeping their chimp in those conditions. It's clear that Eric Goode tried to apply the same template that he used for Tiger King: a traditional animal trainer who euthanises the animals when done with them, a lovable fuckup who tries to get into the world for good reasons but turns bad as it is human nature to error, and one or more industry insiders who are connected to the story. I think Goode must have had to cut the series short because there wasn't enough content to drag it out from Tonia's fuckups.

I can't ever see PETA as the moral party. Animals eat other animals all the time. It's different to torture animals for human amusement. PETA completely ignores this and generates ridiculous pro-vegan propaganda. I cannot separate my distain for PETA's agenda from the situation in the series, even if in removal of the chimps from the Missouri Primate Foundation they were on the right side.

Did anyone else get the impression Tonia keeps fucking with her face to look more chimp like herself?
If Tonia wanted to be a pink and blonde chimp why didn't she walk around in a blonde fur coat or start gluing blonde hair to her body to make her look like she had fur like a chimp? She's clearly a very vain and stupid person. It really makes her seem narcissistic to want a pet that's completely dependent on her and exactly like her. I can't stress enough how upsetting it is to see this pig lipped bitch keep a chimp locked in a closet and then lecture about how she knows more what's best for the chimp.

Another crazy thing about the documentary is that Tonia told the film crew everything. She let them film her committing a violation of the court order when she was keeping the chimp locked in her basement. She must understand that documentaries are public, and that large number of people and anyone who wants to can see them. What would stop the lawyers from PETA watching the documentary when it came out? Tonia gave away both how she was hiding the chimp and how she planned to relocate the chimp to another facility that she could easily visit. A lot of people don't like the stereotype that women are basically adult children who lie constantly and have no basic decision making skills and are completely illogical, but Tonia fits that description perfectly. She lives in disbelief that anyone would watch the documentary or that she'd be in trouble for any of the things that she did on camera. The way she acts really makes her seem dumb, like she lacks Theory of Mind or is just too arrogant not to think that she'd get away with it. The chimp she was most attached to and kept in her basement was named Tonka. I wonder if Tonia thought they might be sole mates because they had similar names. I've known adult women to think this way and make big decisions based on how they read-in to superficial similarities like this.

I haven't watched it but does she grind up the chimps in her basement into pepperoni or is that exclusively a Wisconsin thing?

That must only be in Wisconsin. Adult chimps are not safe to be allowed to interact with humans. They are too strong, can easily become aggressive, and if the chimp becomes violent the human can't defend themselves. The chimp kept in the basement was in a closet sized prison cell instead of being allowed to live outside with hectares of space to roam free. The women, Tonia, is a real Lolcow or Horrorcow; easily hateable women.

I think that for animal abuse that can be proven, there should be severe punishment, life changing punishment. Don't see any reason why it shouldn't be this way: you willingly get a pet, you then abuse or neglect it to the point where it's abuse, why should this person not face heavy repercussions?

If the offense is too egregious, like someone filming themselves torturing an animal, then maximum penalty could be an option, and I see no reasonable defense for it being otherwise. Getting rid of these people is not a loss.
You're not going far enough, people who are rude to cats or don't let them go outside should be jailed.

She reminds me of an overweight Jan Crouch, the late TBN "Christian" host.

I'm 3/4 of the way through the series right now, and they make the Tiger King crew look positively normal.

I'd like to know how her son didn't know there was a 200-pound wild animal in the basement. Wouldn't it, like, smell really bad? I do know they kept other wild animals in the house, so maybe that disguised it.
