Here's one I have. Can't remember where I got it. No idea what it plays. It's the size of a PS1 but weighs about as much as my phone. Has 9-pin controller ports but I don't have cords or controllers. No info or tags on the bottom. It's simply a Prima DinoSaur, whatever that is.

Super cheaply made. Think it's held together by maybe two screws. The buttons are labeled in an odd font. The circuit board isn't buch bigger than the cartridge connector.

The logo is pretty badass though, in case anyone wants it:

99% sure that's a knock-off Genesis. I'm guessing it might have some games pre-loaded on it too but I'm not sure.

That's def the right cartridge size and those are the correct controller ports as well. That or it's an Atari 2600 (Genesis controllers work on Atari's BTW), and with the name DinoSaur it almost makes think there is a chance it could be that too.

The 9 pin was used on a lot of things including the C64/Amiga and Master System and controllers just worked, it amazed me as a kid.
The system is most likely a NES clone, specifically famicom. They're super common in China and that's a 60-pin cartridge slot, like the Famicom. The NES used 72 pins and the Mega Drive used 64.

I've always been curious about this but I can't imagine that it will live up to my imagination.

Yeah lots of famiclones I've encountered use a 9 pin. I've got a similar "Polystation One" that uses the PSOne round styling, then you open the lid and there's the usual 60 pin FC slot. I'd hesitate to declare any knock-off system a MegaDrive/Genesis because basically nobody gives a fuck about the Genesis. Famiclones are way more common.
As for those Syrian Games or whatever that series of PS2 bootlegs was, I have no idea if any of the games are altered to reflect the covers. There's some GTA with Grendizer elements mixed into the cover, too.

Wasn't there a thing for a while of making bootleg fighters (not unlike Mugen) with a Pooh's Adventures cast list, but actually running on real consoles like ps2 for south America and other weird markets?
