Post CYOAIs. Ask for CYOAIs of a specific genre. Post builds (your list of choices) in response to CYOAIs. Offer and get feedback on WiP CYOAIs. If it concerns CYOAIs, it's welcome here.
Why not post a build for 1 of the following CYOAIs? 1 and 2 are comfy, 3 and 4 are power fantasies, 5 and 6 are horror themed, 7 is an aptly named island survival CYOAI, and 8 is a realm builder.

Q: How do I play a CYOAI?
Read one and make choices as you go. You can make the choices in your head or write them down somewhere, whichever you prefer. The sum total of your choices is called your build. You'll be told how many choices you can make in any given section. Some sections of CYOAIs might tell you to only pick 1 option, others will give you points to "spend" on choices that have different values, EG "You have a total of 10 points to spend. Learning how to cast fireballs costs 2 points. Learning how to teleport costs 3." etc.
Then you simply imagine the scenario(s) you've created based on your choices. That's all there is to it: choose and think.
Q: Do I have to publicly post a build to play a CYOAI?
Nope. It's just interesting to see how others approach a given CYOAI, what they prioritize, all that fun stuff.
Q: If there's something I dislike about a CYOAI, such as how limited my choices are, can I tweak my answers accordingly, EG by choosing 2 companions when a CYOAI says to only choose 1?
Yep. It's all make believe, so do whatever makes you happy. That said, a lot of the entertainment value comes from making tough choices with the limited resources/points/choices available. To avoid confusion, it's good manners to note that you "sartyred" your choices (made choices that weren't allowed by the CYOAI, EG picking 0 drawbacks when it said to pick at least 1) if you post such a CYOAI build. This term comes from a guy who often did this and went by the name "Sartyr".
Q: Aren't they just called CYOAs?
On 4chan's /tg/ and some other places, absolutely. Elsewhere, you'd be surprised by how few (if any) relevant results come up when you search for CYOAs. Oftentimes you'll only get published CYOA book discussions, roleplaying threads, and other things that aren't CYOAIs.
