Holy crap I'm late but Geno selling medallions is actually hilarious.
Geno is fucking over Chris and Caden with not only a better looking product but cheaper too. I still wouldn't wear nor buy one but fuck Chris and fuck caden.
Geno is still neutral in my book, let him get the bag from the weens.

Eh, I actually feel bad for Chris on this one. Both Geno and Caden are sacks of shit. You must be pretty pathetic to capitalize off the life of a mentally deficient man, who is out of touch with reality. It's not even a real documentary like Boogie's, it's just a socially awkward man with a face that resembles an anus reading off the CWCwiki. Before I get a logged to death, I'm defending Chris on this one.

Caden is like the guy running a freak show who gives the freaks a pitiful cut of the takings, but Geno is just stealing from him outright. And yes, Chris is possibly infringing too, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still own the non-infringing parts of the content. I think a goofy mashup of two characters is probably copyrightable even if he owns neither. It's not like anyone thinks SEGA or Nintendo created it or is going to buy this instead of one of their video games because they think it's an official product.
So while at this point I no longer care if people fuck with Chris, or even rip him off, it would still be very entertaining to see him get some hungry (and probably drunk) IP lawyer of questionable ethics to take his case on contingency.

My money is that there is a kid on the way and Geno needs to start saving, especially if his wife was earning money as well. He wants to keep it private and it's a major life changing event. Why else would a young newlywed streamer in rural China need to change gears? He doesn't pay rent and China has socialized medicare.
He wants to take a break from the doc once he hits the jail saga, and he kinda has to until there's more information out about what Chris was up to. His Patreon money will take a major blow once this happens. The dude's multi-talented though, he'll figure it out.

I actually thought the antartica story was fairly good, in the very dry way the old PBS documentaties were, but it's not hard to imagine why it flopped.

As much as I would normally say something like geno selling medallions is someone just trying to make a buck off of chris chan and do a shitty troll or something. Geno's documentary is an established enough piece of work and effort that selling the medallion is less profiting off of chris chan and actually just profiting off of iconography from his own piece of work that happened to have originated from chris chan.
Like a whale documentary selling a whale plushie. Or space documentary selling rocket ships. It's basically merchandising his show which is based off of chris chan.

I think getting put off by someone selling some fake sonichu medallion or 'commercializing christory' is some of the most high tier autism lmao. If anything is cringe it's chris chan not taking more advantage of this himself for no reason.

He has tried, but he inevitably screws it up. He's autistic, remember. He struggles to make himself sit down and do something boring, like just mass-producing medallions, and even when he has something to sell, he has neither a sense for business not the social grace to run a store successfully. Null had to nag him incessantly just to do the bare minimum of shipping things to the people who bought them, and when a customer raised a (super valid) complaint, Chris immediately doxed him and then (eventually) sent a product different from what had been ordered as revenge. Or when he was selling something that had actual (and easily quantifiable) value (Bob's stamp collection), and decided that a great way to boost sales would be including modified "Skylander" "toys" (I've no idea what this stuff is, and don't want to know) with the sales. He spent three times more on these "toys" than he earned from actually selling the stamps, and it probably never even entered his mind that most people buying stamps are buying them because they genuinely collect stamps and have no idea who Chris is, rather than because these were "Chris' dad's stamps".
Could Chris earn enough to live comfortably off of an etsy store? Absolutely. Could Chris run an etsy store? Nope.
