Chris-Chan: A Comprehensive History

A lot of the changes in Geno’s remastered video are subtle. There was a lot of mixing issues in the older parts, where his mic would cut in and out. Notable changes in the script revolve around his disposition toward Chris’ family, and past actions. Notable examples off the top of my head are the bit about Bob and Barb leaving Chris with ‘Roche’. In the old script, he flat-out stated that they left Chris to the babysitters’ care nightly to go get drunk. In the new and revised script, it has been redacted to say that they ‘went out’ nightly. Another change includes elaboration upon Chris’ usage of the ‘special education’ bus, where another child punched him in the back of the head for trying to race him to be the first off of the normal bus.

Geno appears much more neutral in the revised version of part 1, not taking any obvious jabs at Chris and his family. This makes for a better documentary. The changes are sprinkled throughout, and are mostly minor, but it feels like a more professional product, at least to me.

Meh I'll just wait until I'm bored enough to rewatch it or the new ones come out. I honestly don't care about any of the changes you mentioned. I honestly think redoing the old episodes is stupid anyway. I wanna watch from where he left not slightly different versions of shit I've watched.

Edit: thanks for the info! The negativity isn't meant to be directed at you btw.

No worries! Also, agreed. I didn’t find much wrong with the previous videos and would’ve liked ‘new’ content, but I don’t mind re-watching these if they are well done.

I had recently marathoned the old stuff a few days prior to the announcement that “””new””” content was on the way, so it’s still sort of fresh in the memory.

Do I think the remaster of part 1 is worth watching? Depends. If you found the documentary interesting before and wished it had a more professional quality to it, yes. Other than cleaning up audio, some addendums, higher fidelity audio and video (which we’ve all seen 100x before), it’s the same thing and otherwise passable. Not essential, but in my opinion, these videos remain the best introduction to Christory.

I’m not sure the cadence in which these will be released, but I still eagerly await part XIV.

I watched them recently too so that's why I'm not really interested.

First revised episode was nice. I've always been curious about pre-2007 Chris, and seeing some of these clips again was fascinating. The one of him flipping out about getting an F still gets me; he even (last) name dropped his teacher. Like damn dude!
I honestly felt my brain go numb for a split second after reading the paper where he flipped to Spanish halfway through. Strangely jarring. I would've loved to have heard what the teachers said about his papers/projects, especially about the handicap bus. I've always felt the whole "slow-in-the-minds" was a douchy thing, even for Chris.
Even though this was only a loose revision, once again, good on ya Geno.

Lol, this may be true in some parts, but so many others do the same thing. Geno is more enjoyable than just staring at a cwcki article for 20 or more mins to waste a video. He does change some things up, right?

he's part of the reason we have all these would-be idea guys trying to turn chris into a new dog-and-brony show; drawing new attention to chris (what age group do you think watches these) and setting people up to think they can be the cwcki's next hot saga. And there's literally no reason to even do these videos other than exposure of himself

Personally I think it would have been better to start with new chapters, or maybe stagger old with new

I get wanting to pull a George Lucas and go back and redo things if they're considered unsatisfactory later on. Creator's privilege. He's learned a lot since he first started doing these.

I'm just concerned he'll hit burn out again and we'll get stuck with another long hiatus with little new content.

Well, personally, I don't see any harm in making a documentary about Chris. People can choose whether they want to become the next "hot saga" or not. Geno has no control over what people decide to do after watching the documentary (getting involved in the trolling or becoming another idea guy) The only problem with these documentaries are most are very repetitive and don't present anything new or different. And yes, i do believe some use Chris to get attention, but it seems Geno actually put effort into his. Feel free to disagree.
