It is true that Null stuck up for Chris for some time, but Null was never on Chris's side, and he proved that when he turned Chris into the police and found an excuse to not give Chris the money he was collecting on Chris's behalf.

That "excuse" is that Chris allegedly (by his own voice recordings) committed a crime, an extreme one at that. But for the sake of argument, lets assume that the whole molesting Barb thing isn't even true: Chris still did then go and take money from her when he wasn't supposed to, AND he lied to Null about it. Chris betrayed the trust of someone who actually tried to help him, and while this isn't the worst thing going on him with lately of course, that's enough to cut him loose.
