Someone on Fox News says it is because we were all secret Socialists. The world forgets the whole thing a few days later when Kim Kardashian reveals a new photo of her ass. The End.

The reason Chris has been so calm is that in his mind, the merge is incoming. Once it's complete, he is no longer just a regular person- he will be untouchable. His 'crimes' cannot be crimes if the merge will make him someone on a higher plane. People feeding into his delusions over the years have made him feel so incredibly confident in all of these things.

aka: Imagine it's a Chris-chan purge, all crime is legal since the merge will free him from whatever atrocities hes done. I wonder if this is one of the biggest 'pushes' that made him start to abuse his mother.
