G1 Starscream; from the 80s, likely to have been seen by Chris, all talk and no action, snivels to the one who is more powerful, et cetera...

Haven't seen Prime, so I can't comment. Perhaps when my nephew is older, or born for that matter, I'll have an excuse to watch it.

Haven't seen Prime either, but I can tell you that Starscream in other media ain't the same as in G1; Armada was somewhat three-dimensional, Animated was actually doing shit to usurp whomever (only not doing so when he was physically disabled), and the movies didn't have him aiming for Megs' spot.
 
a big trait of villains is that they feel justified in what they are doing no matter how heinous their actions are. this describes chris to a t. even when he was stealing his parents' credit cards to buy vidya, he felt justified.
