I'd just like to add a couple of things about Chris and his unorthodox use of language when referring to his relationships with his "girl friends."
Not only has Chris refered to gal-pals as "girl friends," he always did so to audiences that weren't the actual gal-pals, indicating that he knew the gal-pals wouldn't like the characterization, and thus indicating some attempt at dishonesty on his part. Also, he's referred to "breaking up" with Megan, and Tito "stealing [The Wallflower]" from him, which is language used for romantic, not platonic, relationships.
I think this is mostly Chris engaging in magical thinking (something he's done in other contexts in his life) in order to try to alter the reality of those circumstances by saying something that isn't so. He's also trying to recast the situations in a more sympathetic light by making his whining about them seem more valid than pathetic (think "theoretical ex-girlfriends" rather than "trolls who pretended to be my girlfriends.") Still, though, I think the primary target of this subterfuge is Chris more than anyone else (although he did feel ashamed in front of his parents about his fails). When he's lying primarily to trick other people (think Jenkins jinkies, and "ATTENTION! Trolls bought me Legos on Amazon!" it's usually glaringly fabricated, and the goal is a more tangible enrichment.
