I don't think she cared until she realized her control was slipping. The less control she has over Chris, the more annoyed she gets with the whole thing. I've seen this kind of issue play out before. The parent(s) imagine they can keep control forever and maintain their offspring in a dependent, infantile state, and then their efforts backfire to create an intractable NEET burden who makes their lives hell.

Seems likely Barb stopped giving a shit a long time ago, Chris could go full tranny and get the surgery done (presumably by a back alley plastic surgeon) and she'd just shrug it off and ask where ol grim is and why he's taking his sweet time l.
