I don't know what I expected to happen when Renee stopped responding to him, but this was not it. Although I shouldn't that surprised, this is textbook Chris Thinking.

Why? He'll just tell himself that the trolls who hacked her texts are sending him fake texts from her. We have been quite open with the fact that Renee is a troll here and this is the conclusion he came to.

Look, it's clear Chris is reading the forums. Thetan has posted (repeatedly) that she is Renee. It doesn't matter what you tell him, he will believe whatever he wants to believe. Look at the case with Megan where she stated repeatedly that she wasn't his girlfriend. Or the Wallflower. Or the troll sweethearts of the past that he's still convinced were real. Chris has a long history of denial and nothing Thetan says is going to break through the impenetrable wall of autism and stupidity to convince him otherwise.

I have to wonder if he refuses to acknowledge Renee is also a fake "galpal" simply because he regards her as the only human female he has (had) contact with outside Casa de Chandler. All others pretty much have left him at this point (no idea about Anna but it's clear Chris doesn't see her as a romantic interest even in his desperation) and Facebook is just his front for protesting blue arms these days or other bullshit. As usual, Chris and his absolute lack of social outlets is probably doing no wonders for his mental health, being constantly shacked up as his mom's manservant, but also as usual, Chris expects things to come to him and not the other way around, which includes friends. I don't know the circumstances of how he "met" Renee, but I'm presuming that she was the one who initiated contact, so naturally Chris sees this as justification of his mindset to the point he's deluding himself when his last galpal gives up the ghost and is revealed to have been fake the whole time. Just his concept that Renee was real was what allowed him to perpetuate a delusion of active communication with her even though he just sent unanswered messages to her on the flat out fucking weirdest shit imaginable for months almost to the point of obsession.

Suffice to say, I just got a weird mental image of Chris being an exponentially more pathetic version of Nergal - the eternally lonely guy who lived in the center of the Earth - from Grim Adventures, but unlike Chris, Nergal realized he needed to stop being kind of an asshole and forcing people to be companions was a bad thing, so after some reforming he ultimately managed to find a lifelong companion when he happily married Billy's aunt, who in turn stopped being depressed over a bad breakup decades prior.

I don't know the circumstances of how he "met" Renee, but I'm presuming that she was the one who initiated contact, so naturally Chris sees this as justification of his mindset to the point he's deluding himself when his last galpal gives up the ghost and is revealed to have been fake the whole time.

IIRC, Renee replaced some other persona (a gal-pal if I'm not mistaken), and said persona introduced Chris to Renee. So it might have been him to write the first message, but only cause another persona told him to.

You're probably right. It just seems like he might never stop texting her. But as we've seen from his e-mails with The Wallflower and Megan, telling him the truth doesn't really deter him from believing what he wants to or make him leave you alone.

Chris has become so paranoid, so thoroughly broken by the trolls, that he now thinks direct confession of trolling is actually an elaborate trolling plan. He watched Thetan bluntly admit, to a forum of trolls, "I was his friend Renee, here are the texts he's still sending her", and his response is "Don't you worry Renee, I won't be fooled by those mocking slanderers"

There is no singularity to his autism. There is no final layer of stupidity to uncover. It's a golden spiral of delusion, and no matter how high we crank the magnification, there's just the same pattern of foolishness, repeating again, forever and ever and ever.

I still don't think this is by any means the most retarded thing he has ever believed. Don't get me wrong, it's mesmerizingly stupid (especially when you consider this has happened several times in the past) but I can sort of see why he believes this to be the case.

He most likely views this forum as being populated entirely by trolls and people who just wish him harm (rather than just people who find him morbidly fascinating and enjoy talking to others who feel the same, and actually have an odd sense of affection towards him), it's easy to see why he automatically files anything said here into the troll folder and pays it no mind. If you're on this forum you're a troll, and if you're a troll you can only be a deceitful sadist who hates him and exists only to ruin his life.

Then add into the mix not only his autism but also his desperation for human contact and affection, his rapidly shrinking support network and his astounding naivete and voila, you have yourself the formula for some God-tier denail.
