I put up my tree and I'm watching Hallmark Christmas movies all day. I'm buying lots of presents for myself too.

I'm not an economy-hating commie so I'm cool with early christmas as long as it's pure mindless consumerism, just keep the references to some magic jew having a birthday to a minimum to not insult my euphoric intelligence.

I don't really care for Thanksgiving, but I do think starting Christmas earlier each year is getting grating, especially if they start to put up Christmas stuff in October. At least wait until Halloween is over and done with.
Before Halloween even came and went this year, Christmas music started on at least one radio station, if not the second one as well, known for playing Christmas music from November through Christmas Day. Can't Halloween and Thanksgiving get their holiday-related merchandise promoted and sold without Christmas overshadowing and upstaging them? *sigh* :heart-empty:

X-mass should be a 12 day feast from Dec 25 to Jan 5.

No celebration before or after, that kind of ruins the special time, the special pagan solstice time.
As I mentioned in another thread, there used to be radio stations that would wait until the afternoon of Christmas Eve and play a good 30-36 hours straight of various Christmas songs. As a kid, one particular station in my area also bought space in the local newspaper to list the songs and artists that would be played each hour of the broadcast. Come December 26, the stations reverted to their regular format but still included occasional Christmas songs up until New Years Day.

Now, it seems as if radio stations play Christmas music earlier and earlier and the variety of songs is lacking at best and nonexistent at worst. By the time it's 11:59 PM on Christmas, the holiday music ends abruptly (if it hasn't already ended earlier on Christmas day) without any announcement or closing messages as if Christmas never even happened.

Honestly I try to ignore the commercialization and enjoy Christmas for what it is: A moment to spend time with family. To me, the presents are but a nice bonus, not the primary focus of the holiday. I guess that's why I can ignore the advertisements so easily. Sure I'll listen to a few holiday songs, but I just prefer to admire the pristine snow with my relatives while eating some warm turkey and mashed potatoes.

I hate to buy gifts in a hurry in December, when shops are full of people so i buy everything in November. Having all christmas-themed decorative stuff, wrappers, gift boxes this early is better for me.
