Well, it's that time of year again. Time to talk about your favorite Christmas media. (Also, time to post updated links to the stuff that was posted in last year's thread and the year before that.)

But first, let me set the mood:

If you were a kid in the 70s or 80's, this sound made your pulse quicken, because you knew something awesome was going to come on TV. (And by something awesome, I mean the same Christmas specials you saw every year, but it was all part of the ritual that heralded the fast approach of Getting Presents Day.) Another part of the ritual was watching Rankin/Bass holiday specials. These are the best ones I could find free online:

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1968) (HD)
Frosty the Snowman (1969) (HD)
Santa Claus is Coming to Town (1970) (HD)
The Little Drummer Boy (1968) (HD)
The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974)

Rudolph isn't all that good, in retrospect, but it has catchy music and the best Rankin Bass character hands down: Yukon Cornelius. (Yes, he's even better than the Miser Brothers and I will die on this hill.)

Then you have various other Christmas specials:

A Garfield Christmas Special (1987) - The subplot with the cool granny is surprisingly heartwarming.
The Smurf's Christmas Special (1982) - Where the Smurfs are forced to fight Satan by singing a Christmas song that's even worse than "Wonderful Christmas Time."
Christmas Eve on Sesame Street (1978) - Where Oscar trolls Big Bird into nearly freezing to death.
A Muppet Family Christmas (1987)
He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special (1985)
A Claymation Christmas Celebration (1987) - A rare gem from the 80's Claymation craze.
March of the Wooden Soldiers in Color (1934) - Silly but fun outing from Laurel and Hardy.
Merry Christmas Mr. Bean - Rowan Atkinson comedy special

And lastly, the various versions of A Christmas Carol: (The ones available on Youtube in decent quality.)
Scrooge (1970) (HD) - Musical Version with great production design. Also, Alec Guiness kills it as Marley's Ghost.
A Christmas Carol (1984) - George C. Scott
A Christmas Carol (1951) - Alastair Sim
A Christmas Carol (1971) - Again, Alastair Sim, but animated, Oscar-winning, and piss your pants scary.
A Christmas Carol (1999) -Patrick Stewart. Not the best quality, but free
Mr Magoo Christmas Carol (1962) - Animated
Twelve Hundred Ghosts - A Christmas Carol in Supercut (Compiled in 2016)

EDIT: Fuck the Chris-chan emoji. I ain't changin' nothin....

Very problematic specials. Not enough transgender representation. This is not acceptable in 2021. Please report and flag on Youtube.

The Year Without a Santa Claus is just silly fun. You can watch Santa Claus get inducted into the immortal elites in The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus (1985).

I vaguely remember the Garfield one. This is funny:
In 2013, Scott Neumyer of Parade called it "a delightful little short featuring everyone's favorite cantankerous orange cat". That year, Jef Rouner of the Houston Press described the episode as "depressing" and mostly unfunny, remarking that since Grandma cannot hear Garfield's thoughts, "what we're watching is a sad old widow so desperately lonely without her late husband that she has begun talking out loud to a visiting cat".

Jack Frost and Scrooge are incels in current year.
