It’s kind of funny Vito is defending Piskor, if going by what EVS said about him hating his guts because of Comicsgate is true, Piskor likely would’ve told Vito to fuck off due to his association with the frogman.

Also it’s interesting that people in CG are only now caring about Piskor when if you were to ask them which is their favorite episode of Cartoonist Kayfabe, they probably couldn’t come up with an answer.

Everyone involved in this are ghouls: Piskor (literally), Alex de Campi’s crew, EVS, Vito, del Arroz; the lot of them.

This reminds me of some other terminally ill man in the commentary sphere that decided to kill himself and blame his detractors. Both are weak willed, hopeless and godless men who thought they could kill two birds with one stone. The least you could do is go quietly, writing about meanies in your dairy makes you sound like a little bitch. neither the fat assed 17 y/o ewhore nor the internet bullies will remember or care. You offing yourself is your own choice, and it’s because of actions you chose while living.

From what I’m understanding of things, this may be another one of those situations like with the Night in the Woods creator, where a woman overblows/exaggerates/lies about something a man did and ruins his life, only for the guy to kill himself.

Yeah and I hate to be in agreement with Vedo over anything but he’s current bitching about this news segment and I gotta agree why the hell was this worthy of Philadelphia local news coverage?
It’s not like Ed Piskor talked about how the children in Cuties were hot. Anyone who would do that should jump in front of oncoming traffic.

Don’t text with teenagers. It’s not complicated. And Piskor was clearly ashamed with himself so much he decided life wasn’t worth living anymore. I find it kind of sus the chick waited 4 years to drop these DMs if she thought he was such a threat, so I'm guessing this is more about upping her profile than outing a predator, but regardless of her motivations there is absolutely no context where these DMs are not at best inappropriate and at worst creepy as fuck.

There is absolutely no reason on this earth for a man in his 40s to be talking to a 17-year-old like this. Actually, her being underage isn't really relevant: even if she was 18-21 this would still be supremely creepy. If he just wanted to praise her work then why couldn't he leave a public comment on her posts? Dude knew exactly what he was doing, fuck this piece of shit.

Going thru the suicide letter makes me far less sympathetic towards him.

Like basically Ed is totally innocent, it’s all taken out of context, he admits to being an isolated weirdo. But still he’s gonna kill himself because his business was damaged and other indie comic people attacked him. Oh and it’s totally the fault of “internet bullies.”

It’s very reminiscent of Near/Byuu’s suicide letter but at least Ed didn’t fake a suicide. But still it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that you make a suicide note and say it was cyberbullies that did this. And then he proceeds to name off several people in the industry and if you look there’s randos on Xtwitter sending angry tweets their way aka cyberbullying. Personally if cyberbullying hurt me that badly I’d feel really shitty to then encourage more of it. So I don’t think Ed Piskor is the victims of bullying, I think he was a jerk who rather than owning up to his mistakes he took an easy way out and knowingly inflicted emotional harm onto others. People who are likely similar to him being comic book nerds.

So to sum it up, yeah fuck that guy. And fuck Near/Byuu (who didn’t kill himself). And fuck Vito. I’m so glad I can be opposed to him again on another controversy.

I only got about 2 paragraphs into his suicide note before I gave up because it was so obvious he was full of shit.

If it was genuinely innocent then all you need to say is 'I DM'd her to compliment her art, calm down lol' and even it being in DMs could be explained if he was responding to a story she posted, but all this shit about the pandemic and how lonely he was...so what, you couldn't get on Tinder like everyone else and strike up conversations with women your own age?

If it takes you thousands of words to explain why your sliding into the DMs of a 17yo girl was innocent then it wasn't innocent. Simple as.

This was Pittsburgh, not Philly.

Pittsburgh is a lot smaller of a city. It's a small Appalachian city, so dinky little news stories like these aren't entirely unheard of.
