Looks like I was beat to it. Gman is basically your average Starfield enjoyed, along with Act "I only went to a pride parade because my girlfriend made me!" Man. Gman has a gigachad thumbnail for his video and Act Man had his torn apart by Synthetic Man(so for only good review of the game I saw came from him)
Speaking of which, even Civvie shit on that game. That means he still has at least some semblance of taste in gaming left(he also made a Duke Nukem Forever video when the game leaked, something Gman was too much of a little bitch about so he doesn't "burn his bridges" with greasy Randy)

I never really watched him that much, but when Halo Infinite came out and he said "you can't actually get anywhere with the grappling hook", I seldom get befuddled at a level like that. The grappling hook was the best most useful part of the whole game.

He could definitely be using mechanics like the q and e lean more, every time he had a complaint about enemies being tanky he was using shitty ammo without any real armor penetration. That being said turning off the brain scorcher and fighting through the CNPP to get the "true" ending are miserable examples of the slavic hard=good game design from that era

Shillman only has gotten away with his retardation for so long because he was one of the first Youtubers to focus on First Person Shooters, his earliest reviews are the most generic descriptions of the games he's reviewing and he got away with it because FPS fans are retarded and were desperate for content that validated their tastes.

You could definitely hear him losing the wind in his sails for Stalker in this last video. Usually he can fill the dead air with game trivia or doing a Cancermouse bit, but he seemed content with just getting it finished.

I honestly can't say I blame him, the game is enjoyable for like 80% of the playtime and the end is just a slog. It wouldn't be so bad if the game wasn't so quick to drop you out of nowhere and having to deal with hordes of bullet sponges.

Makes you wonder if he's starting to run a little lean on new ideas. He could go back and play some of those ancient games that had demos on old Windows95 product sampler disks, but he'd have to wade through a lot of shit to find something good. Even then, he wouldn't have the background knowledge that he has with games he grew up with. Watching his old Doom and Quake videos is what convinced me to buy a copy of the Masters of Doom book after hearing about the wild shenanigans that took place around the Id office in their early years.

Civvie borders on the edge of sucking Carmack's dick too much, but he's undeniably a tech wizard. I've watched several lectures that Carmack has given at IT colleges over the years as well as his TED Talks, and the man can speak intelligently for hours without missing a beat. First and second generation programmers are an eccentric breed that we'll never get back. As another Kiwi has said on here before, I miss when IT nerds would dress up and pretend to be rogues and wizards instead of wearing dresses and pretending to be women.

I think the issue is STALKER is generally played by most a little more open-endedly than what works for the kind of "pro series" format he generally does for games.

I also think he should break out of the shooter genre and do other games, like he did for his April Fool's Virtual Boy Wario Land video. Carefully curated picks, mind you, but other games he enjoys more.
