Civvie 11 - Retro FPS Boomer

Civvie seems to be slowly losing his mind playing through TNT Evilution lol. (Despite his hatred for it, it was still my favourite of the Final Doom pair. The thematic progression they had going was lovely, while Plutonia was just brown and brown and bloodpools.)
I'm not a hug fan of the daily shorts he's posting. I'd rather have one giant video compared to endless tiny ones.

He's clearly only doing it to get people to shut up about TNT, and because the Youtube algorithm now demands shorts. Were not for the latter, I'm sure he wouldn't have made any content about WAD at all.

Not gonna lie, I can't wait to see how his soul fades away at Administration Centre and Mt Pain, both excruciatingly long levels. (Central Processing comes a close third but it at least has an interesting theme to it.)

I don't recall TNT being  that bad. I remember liking it for the most part. Only real issue I remember having was just that I forgot it existed a lot of the time because if I wanted to play doom 2, I would just load up doom 2 or any of the millions of wads for it. And if I wanted balls to the wall difficulty then just boot up Plutonia.

TNT just kinda sat there at that one wad I would boot up every once in a while, play a few levels and then forget about for a year or two.

It's not bad. It's just aged very poorly. Doom 1 and Doom 2 gets passes for being the OG. Plutonia continues to shine as a primo example of a ballsbusting hard official WAD. By contrast, the only thing TNT had going for it fairly pretty map design and themeing... for 1996. It does not hold a candle to modern WADs which could boast a few thousand to tens of thousands of lines and sectors in a single map alone, with details that would make even Romero green with envy had he the tools back then.

New civvie, the game is Hexen 2, a game I hate so it will be an interesting watch.
This whole video feels like it was pretty much rushed up. Perhaps pandering to zoomers and making retarded tik tok shorts wasn't a great idea.
Not to mention I wasn't able to get rid off the feeling of civvie's voice being highly annoying this time

He made multiple jokes about "tell me about how I should have done XYZ" then presented a clip where he actually talked about something that was pointed out to him. I don't read the comments section nor am I on whatever discord he has but he's probably getting really sick of some section of it.

At least we got a cancer mouse segment, I always like those.

I couldn't even finish this. It seems like he was in auto-pilot when making the video.

REALLY getting tired of the constant "Post a comment if you figured out how to make this work or know how to play the game better than me" bullshit.

Like I said, shouldn't have licked that chink rectum. (tik tok but youtube's)
And I mean it, doing two things simultaneously results in failure with both in this case, his YT shorts are all screeching and no fun, while Hexen 2 video MIGHT have some of it, but this whole thing really feels like he have put very low effort into it.
And yes. The only good segment here is Cancer Mouse. Disgusting.

The TNT tiktok shit, in its entirety, couldn't have taken more than like three days to edit. Getting the script takes read and playing through the extremely boring WAD would've been the bulk of the time dump, and even then I can't see the entire project taking more than a week if you could dedicate to it full-time.

It's filler, Hexen 2 is filler, but if he's banking on youtube/patreon as a primary form of income, you've got to shit out filler even if you're working on something with a bit more juice to it.

He's definitely holding the IWAD up to standards that were not present in his OG Doom 2 video. (Like, nigger, the layout of Doom 2 was way worse than whatever TNT had; fucking Chasm alone should have had Sandy Petersen pilloried.)
I think Doom 1 and 2 holds up really well today. TNT's big crime is that the maps are simply too big and confusing.

I dunno lads, I really liked this one. He seemed into it and the whole "tell me in the comments" section didn't feel nearly as egregious as I thought it'd be. The cancer mouse segment was funny, I chuckled at a few jokes. His total rage at the bullshit Egyptian "puzzles" felt honest. Maybe I'm more sympathetic because I have a weird affinity for Hexen 2 (something about the lite-RPG elements and verisimilitude; the rudimentary attempt at actual buildings, living spaces etc) despite the fact that the game is relentlessly confusing and not that fun.

Haven't seen his TNT videos though so maybe my tolerance is higher currently.
