Oh, he's easy. Just have him around as a buff on death and revive guy while you kill a few enemies to collect his transformations. For some reason, he always ends up being the first to die in my party when I have him on, so I slapped him with those pictos.
Just remember the pictos you use matter way more for stats than the attributes themselves. It's sometimes more efficient to just slap the highest level pictos you find for more HP/def, rather than for its ostensible effect, unless you're building the character for something.

Oh yeah.
A shame all my highest level ones are trade-offs right now.

Your gut is wrong. I am pretty sensitive to gay woke shit in games, and at the absolute worst, there are slight “girlboss” moments, but not nearly enough to be annoying or deal breaking. The characters are all written and acted very well.
I'm not exactly allergic to LGB representation or "diversity", if the writing is solid and not ham fisted, shitty woke writing.
But trannies are a hard limit, even someone like Claire from Cyberpunk 2077 felt ham fisted and forced (and I like Claire).

I'm at the start of Act 3 and I can firmly say there are no trannies for the vast majority of the game.
unless i missed something in one of the audio logs or whatever

The writing so far (a bit into act 2) I'd put at/slightly above the level of a well-made 90s action movie. It's the writer's first game (possibly first published work as well), and IIRC she comes from a finance background rather than the usual artsy types, so she isn't immersed in that culture you're worried about.

I have a problem that I'd like some pro-Clair Obscur Expedition 33 opinions on.
I rarely suffer from FOMO when it comes to games, but something about the way people talk and praise E33 is giving me FOMO. The problem is, I think the game looks like generic modern crap with awful modern Final Fantasy gameplay from all of the screenshots, and I watched a video that showed off a shitty-looking platforming puzzle in some water. The price point is holding me back, even with the current discount on steam for 20% off.
Yet every single voice I hear about it is praising it to high heavens, even if I ignore game shills.
Have I judged the game unfairly simply because of alleged niggers in a french setting, visually dull screenshots that make me think its goy slop? Is this some hidden gem that I must play NOW NOW NOW ?
Or is my gut feeling correct - Sweet Baby Inc/"sensitivity consultant" slop that pretends to be indie, astroturfed by every single streamer?
What the fuck is this?
Do people really behave in this nigger cattle manner?

Dude, it's your money and your time and you should not rely on the opinion of internet niggers for that.
Stop being so autistic, pirate the damn game, try it and make up your own mind. It's not that fucking complicated and were not here to convince you of shit.
Jesus H fucking Christ, I often wonder how some of you retards are able to function in society, without the ability to make the simplest of decisions.

Aforementioned parry slop annoying ass fucking enemy aside, the picto mechanic allows an insane degree of customizability I don't think I've ever seen in any type of RPG. I am not exaggerating. From bonus AP gain, break/stun gain, bonus attacks, debuff/buffs on conditions, special conditions, trade-off buff/debuffs, and buffing buffs/debuffs even for every individual party member. This isn't even taking into account the different bonuses weapons provide, which are all different for each party member. It's fucking ridiculous, honestly. I don't know why that isn't talked about more.
I do think that's the main selling point, there's a variety of different builds just by stacking passives and it's relatively easy to change them. I decided to try it and I have mixed feelings so far. I don't really like the map or overworld, and the story in Act 1 at least seems like a 2010s action-fantasy movie. It should be the type of game I really wanted to play for a while but there just seems to be something missing.

Discuss: The Indie Game Awards have disqualified E33 due to generative AI usage: https://insider-gaming.com/indie-game-awards-disqualifies-clair-obscur-expedition-33-gen-ai/

“The Indie Game Awards have a hard stance on the use of gen AI throughout the nomination process and during the ceremony itself,” the statement reads. “When it was submitted for consideration, representatives of Sandfall Interactive agreed that no gen AI was used in the development of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

“In light of Sandfall Interactive confirming the use of gen AI on the day of the Indie Game Awards 2025 premiere, this does disqualify Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from its nomination.”

What parts were AI generated though?
I see these retarded threads on /v/ besides the Maelle thirstposting ones but no one can say anything other than some fucking music of all things was.

These are the people running this award show.

Nothing else really needs to be said.

...That's it?
The whole AI dialogue is a mess right now and I'm sure some people are just happy to have an excuse to shit on this game (see this thread before and after it won GOTY).

I'm on the side of 'no AI at all' but that's not going to happen and I'm not going to sperg out over some random placeholder.

Same
I'm not going to sperg out if by some miracle an AI created game turns out to be good either, which it likely never will be because LLMs aren't true AI.

I can't believe it

YOU BITCH, I LOVED YOU

Act 3 is going really hard right now, when it isn't braining me like a retarded baby with its million health enemies
Sciel's backstory is ultra depressing and has been remarkably foreshadowed. Alicia's death too. My god.
But you see, Twitter says that any game that gets near the untouchables is ruined forever even if you did it so you weren't seeing black and white checkerboard rectangles all over the place while the art department was getting their work done. Ruined forever, unfortunately.
i don't know whether to blame politics for polarizing people so much or just the sheer retardation of the modern day

...That's it?
They also used it to touch up PowerPoint presentations and early concept art. They basically used it to fast track miscellaneous tasks while they focused on the real stuff. This is the exact kind of stuff AI should be used for and is being used for whether other companies admit to it or not But the way people are freaking out, you would swear the entire game was made by Skynet. Expedition 33 is a fantastic game and to have people pretend otherwise because they left some placeholders in the background is ridiculous
