Discuss: The Indie Game Awards have disqualified E33 due to generative AI usage: https://insider-gaming.com/indie-game-awards-disqualifies-clair-obscur-expedition-33-gen-ai/

“The Indie Game Awards have a hard stance on the use of gen AI throughout the nomination process and during the ceremony itself,” the statement reads. “When it was submitted for consideration, representatives of Sandfall Interactive agreed that no gen AI was used in the development of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

“In light of Sandfall Interactive confirming the use of gen AI on the day of the Indie Game Awards 2025 premiere, this does disqualify Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from its nomination.”

Apparently Blue Archive, the game that was given the award after they disqualified E33, ALSO used AI, so it’s extra retarded.

Hating on AI is the new "current thing" for the left, another pathetic attempt by climb up the Marxist grievance ladder by virtue signalling your dislike for LLMs.
Anyone who hates on AI is basically admitting they can't make art that isn't a copypasta and low quality. AI is really targeting jobs that faggot shitlib creators tend to have.

What the fuck is this?
Do people really behave in this nigger cattle manner?

Dude, it's your money and your time and you should not rely on the opinion of internet niggers for that.
Stop being so autistic, pirate the damn game, try it and make up your own mind. It's not that fucking complicated and were not here to convince you of shit.
Jesus H fucking Christ, I often wonder how some of you retards are able to function in society, without the ability to make the simplest of decisions.
Sorry for asking a question, I hope you have a nice rest of your day.

i just beat the game
i chose maelle because i couldn't kill everyone like that but i'm watching verso's ending

Indie going against AI is absolutely insane, as if solo devs have a budget for artists helping their games. Of course "Indie" has long stopped being unknown solo devs and instead it's an incestuous group of degenerated signal boosting eachother.

So that's it? The game's completely short, linear and doesn't explain anything in act 1 and act 2 until you get to act 3 then suddenly it tells you everything and shifts from Final Fantasy 6 World of Balance into Final Fantasy 6 World of Ruin where the majority of the game is side content that can make you OP but you can also immediately beat the game by going to the final area.

The game looks pretty, I like the battle system and all the builds you can make to break it but I'm disappointed at how short and small the story and world of the game feels.

When I heard the game had 3 acts and falls off in act 3, I thought it'd be like Dragon Quest XI. Getting to the paintress at the monolith is the end of act 1 and where the game truly starts. I didn't expect act 1 and act 2 to be this short it felt like you barely did much there.

He is the family dog. Noco was the old family dog that Verso wasnt as close too because he didnt have him as a puppy. Notice how prominent the dog is in the family portrait. He is child Verso putting his real life best friend in the portrait. It also explains why he is weirdly more powerful and doesnt look like the other gestrals with his white coat. The manor room with portraits of the dog with the music track being Monoco is the evidence of this.

Using AI to help with video game production is one of the few positives of AI use I can think of. I don't even game much but waiting 15 years for Elder Scrolls 6 or GTA 6 is a joke and using AI in concert with human talent is a rare win-win scenario from my perspective. Also, autistic tech retards have had it way too good for too long, bringing them down a peg is a good thing and restores the natural order.

Being a 500 person studio with a 400 million dollar publisher means you still qualify for the Indie™ Game Awards but using ChatGPT to make a random powerpoint is just a bridge too far

The issue isn't that the studios don't have the time or resources to make game. They have too much time and too much money, and they were allowed to sit around making nothing while still getting paid. GTA6 wasn't made because they were getting passively rich off whales buying "shark cards" in the online game, and more and more GTA5 DLCs. TES6 wasn't made because Todd saw his shadow and realized they could repackage and resell Skyrim for another 10 years. It's even confirmed in Rockstar's case because their internal documents keep getting leaked.

They just don't want to release games that would compete with their cash cows but definitely had the ability at one point. Just look at old timelines: Oblivion was released in 2006 and Skyrim was released in 2009 on much shittier hardware than we have now. They're too successful to bother and if AI actually does make them more productive, that's not going to make AAA studios stop behaving like this.

You forgot to mention budget and the animations being done by a different studio altogether.
This could have been a funny W for everyone by simply stating "Look, e33 is an amazing title that deserved the GotY title, but considering everything, it would feel dishonest to categorize it as an Indie title, this way, we will also be sure to give deserved spotlight to more obscure indie titles that, in this amazing year, didn't managed to gain any deserved attention."
But no, AI is the enemy, we still need to own the cryptobros even after they jumped to the AI ship, thus AI is evil and e33 is evil for using it.

Btw, is there anyone that feels utter disinterest toward the title after seeing it getting glazed by geoff at the shit awards?

In the real world mansion Monoco is also called "Monoco the third" which points to the family buying a new dog and naming it the same as the last, kind of like what happens in the main story, it also explains the way gestral reincarnate and whythey are different every time
