It was attempted multiple times and it failed. Though it was funny. The Europeans invested in the Crusades in Israel even had a King of Jerusalem, who had power on paper, but no actual power in the region. It was pretty much a meme. I would be curious to see how well Christians would do today at establishing dominance in Israel over Jews and Muslims, but I predict it would go as bad as previous attempts.
