A big reason why the Crusades failed was due to infighting amongs the crusaders, the first and third Crusade (the most succesful) almost collapsed because the Crusader generals all knew and hated eachother, in the crusades that failed this would lead to crusader generals purposfully omiting crutial information just so the other general would make a mistake that would get him killed, and the other big reason, maybe the most important, is the logistics, Jerusalem and the Crusader states were in the middle of the muslim neighbourhood, right in the middle of Egypt, Arabia and Syria, in order to not be inmediatly anhilated they'd need a large pool of catholics who would gladly give their lifes for Jerusalem, there weren't many of those in the area, the only other christians around were the Copts in Egypt and Orthodox in the Levant, problem is that they didn't like the Catholics and would rather be ruled by the Orthodox Byzantines/Romans.
As for wether Christians could do that today, well, probably yes, muslims largely suck at modern organized warfare, the Jews would be tricky since they have nukes, but I think most western nations have defenses that are capable of handling a few dozen nukes (assuming Israel has less than 100).

I remember seeing a twitter post from Gaza where a monkey was hanging on a little noose in its cage. The poster claimed that the monkey was in such despair from the blockade of Gaza that it committed suicide. I can't find it now but that's the level of intellect we're working with here.
