Yeah well to be fair, Saddam thought that his Republican Guard, while actually pretty good and gave the US Military a serious challenge, would be enough to repel the US Military from Iraq in a conventional matter. If Saddam was in Afghanistan or another mountainous country then maybe he'd have a good point since the Republican Guard could easily become Guerrillas.
