Just discovered this meme Visual Novel game and i love it. Its authentic to that era. During the height of teenagers embracing their free speech, Pre-gamergate or Tosh rape joke controversy. When fucking with retards online was considered the height of culture and everyone believed "consequences will never be the same!"

You follow the story of Nicole, she's your average teenage girl of that era (AKA a psychopath) and see her navigate high school and the pratfalls of that era: school shootings, suicidal boyfriends, abusive lesbian relationships, drug overdoses, pedophile teachers, and unironic white supremacists. Its inspired by the gossip and stories the creator heard about back in his days of high school. Like it says in the sub title, everyone talks with the same dark humor typical of that era, when being a crazy asshole wasn't just something only the characters on Sunny were allowed to be. Her and her classmates especially her best friend Jecka all say the sort of horrific shit you aren't allowed to say on reddit and tiktok today without a care in the world. If you're too cheap to buy the game you can just watch playthroughs online such as this one

visual novels have little replayability and they're glorified Choose your own adventure books, but this one has quite a lot of paths to playthrough so you may need to watch a few of these.

Since its finally gotten some hype the creator is cashing out hard. e-begging on kickstarter for a cartoon short https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/classof09anime/class-of-09-anime-episode having already spent a shitload of money on a different anime promotional short that is a pretty accurate summary of the game seen here

I completely endorse this game and just wish it came out a decade ago or even longer back because modern censorship really suxs and its keeping such a wacky yet authentic portrayal of that crazy era from being seen by even more people. If i was a blogger for buzzfeed or Kotaku i'd call this game the Anti-euphoria or "the video game sequel to thirteen" Its truely a masterpiece and is everything mainstream media hates and something most youtubers wouldn't dare cover because they either hate the VN genre or hate how offensive this game is or are sure they'll get demonetized. If you know any streamers asking for game recommendations give them this its truely from a different cooler generation and if they grew up around this era they'll probably tell you of stories they remember that are shocking similar to what our protagonist goes through.

I heard about this a little while ago, but I didn't look too much into it. The VA work seems alright, skimming through the video, but man. That artstyle is not easy on the eyes. I'd have to sit through more to get a good bead on the writing. Some seems good, some meh. Honestly, I'd feel like a better animated fit, rather than anime, would be a kind of Adult Swim-style cheap animation, some ATHF stuff.

i enjoy the art style. its simplistic as fuck, but the backgrounds scream of its era. the lunchroom with the awful tables, the classrooms with the fake white block walls, the science room with the black desks, the white carpet and white walls overly priced house with crappy building materials. I agree about it being better in a different style, while i like the backgrounds and the fashions of all the characters the anime girls doesn't really fit. Maybe a "Tom Goes to the Mayor" style might fit better. the problem is if the characters are too detailed people might feel weird about the whole plot and character arcs.
