Most of the 'percipients' are slacktivists - so a vast majority will re-post the usual cow manure on social media, and not bother showing up.

I would love to see all these "environmental community" members actually come together and show all of us uneducated autistic dumb-dumbs how to live in harmony with nature, long term. --- I want them to actually practice what they preach in real life for their entire lives - without cheating - not post crap in social media or pay Al Gore to plant trees.

It's all empty virtue signalling. Hell for some of them they get to skip school. Environmental change is not an individually responsibility issue it's frankly an issue requiring intra-Governmental action and coordination. Way beyond our current political systems ability to handle so hey fuck it, skip school. Life might be short.

I think schools should have a No Fossil Fuels week, where they do not use any products that are assembled using them. So that's no phones, computers, tvs, chairs, ink, plastic, rubber or heating/air con. But a small price to pay for saving the planet.

What really rustles my jimmies is that besides going out with signs there seems to be no actual idea of what to do.

Millions of school climate strikers have been leaving their classrooms every Friday. Now they hope that everyone else will join them in action. Going on climate strike means people everywhere walking out of their homes, their offices, their farms, their factories. Everyone is needed to disrupt business as usual: from sports stars, actors and teachers to food industry workers, psychologists, delivery drivers and everything in between. We can all take part, whatever our circumstances, by refusing to accept the status quo. Already people in 150 countries are organising for the global climate strikes this September. Some will spend the day in protest against new pipelines and mines, or the banks that fund them; some will highlight the oil companies fuelling this crisis and the politicians that enable them. Others will spend the day in action raising awareness in their communities and pushing for solutions to the climate crisis that have justice and equity at their heart. On a grossly unequal planet, not everyone will be able to take a day off or take part in the same way. But we can all take a stand and make our voices heard.
Granted, there is a million ways to fight climate change but quitting work/school is something that means shit on the great scheme of things and that this initiative is only one of many under the same goal, at least they reccomend giving prior notice first. On actions to take theres nothing related to this very specific event, the movement only exists because this week will see major movements on climate and energy accords.

Everyone! School strikers are aiming to make September 20 their biggest mobilisation yet, whilst unions and adults everywhere are preparing their own climate strikes on September 20 and 27 in over 150 countries already. We already know that environmental, public health, social justice, and development groups will join in. But our greatest hope is simply to show that those working on this crisis have the backing of millions of human beings who have a growing dread about the climate emergency but who have so far stayed mostly on the sidelines. It will take all of our efforts to get millions of us in the streets worldwide. So join us. Our window for effective climate action is closing fast.
I swear I can hear the moans of pleasure and sniffing of buttocks. If you didnt catch up yet this goes in the same direction as the March for Science of a few years ago and moving on pretty much the same direction of circle-jerking. This movement relies on how the hip youth is going to change the world under the great teachings of Greta Thunberg and is totally not going to be another trend that will go nowhere after a few months if even weeks.

I do care about the climate situation and alternative energies but it is somthing that gives a bittersweet taste when I see it displayed in this fashion. Alternative as it is now isnt really a solution as much as a rebranding; windmills suck, solar panels dont justify their cost and only work half a day and anything related to water puts lifes at risk. Geotermy is only for certain regions and unless you work with thorium nuclear is still to scary. Marches like this are probably going to generate more trash on the streets of the big cities they are taking place, which is going to be poorly recicled and painted on green to be consumed next year.

This protest is as organic as the Women’s March in 2017. This climate strike probably has many corporate sponsors backing this up. Also, these protests are probably causing more pollution. If people traveled from out of town, that means they would be using many disposable items for the few days there. I’m betting on lots of litter as well. Some of the places protesting don’t have the cleanest streets and I doubt one protest will get those people to clean up after themselves. There’s probably going to be lots of plastic waste as well from all of this.

That’s all I’ve gotten out of this march besides a bunch of kids wanting to skip school.

They've been blocking traffic in some English cities today, so yeah, pollution will be raised just from that alone.
Skipping through some photos of this earlier, I spotted a hell of a lot of smartphones, full of heavily mined, rare earth metals which causes a great deal of pollution, are imported & will just add to the pile of e-waste when then owners want the latest model next year. What a load of hypocritical bullshit this is.

Day 1 - large ass protests everywhere that are identical to the women's march; devoid of goals and were an excuse to skip work/school
Day 2 - ...
Day 3 - ...
Day 4 - I knew this wasn't going to be a one day deal.

The climate activists are in DC today, trying to spread awareness for their cause by pissing off as many people as possible, and this sentence gave me a B O N E R:

"Boccagno reported protests remained peaceful even though the pink and yellow sailboat brought a busy intersection — just two blocks away from the White House — to a standstill for at least three hours."

Because of this heroic boat, pollution has now been defeated once and for all.

Of course, the climate strike has little to do with environmentalism. The Green New Deal and all other major environmental initiatives are based around equity and recognizing economic refugee status.

No one can truthfully look at the science and ignore China's role in global environmental problems.

This is just another racist swipe at white males.

The NOAA raw data shows no temp rise since 2005. So... we did it! Great job guys! Problem solved I guess!

I agree with those that have already said that this strike will be nothing more than slacktivists that do nothing of value and spout empty buzzwords that everyone has already heard from the prior attempts at making climate change foremost on people's minds.

Now just imagine if they actually took the time to do something politically actionable like making proposals at city council meetings. Scary stuff!
It doesn't even have to be a form of political action; even planting a single tree to make up for those that get removed on a daily basis would do more than skipping school or blocking traffic -- which leads me to the next point...

On the way to work this morning, I heard news that someone intended to block DC traffic near the White House. All I could think of was the irony that this same group of protestors wants people to reduce/eliminate the use of fossil fuels and chose to promote that belief by preventing gasoline-powered vehicles from moving -- resulting in a needless waste of the same fossil fuels they don't want used unnecessarily. :story:

TL;DR for this "strike": Just like Occupy and every other so-called movement since, a lot will be said and demanded. However, little to no meaningful action will happen because the people involved would rather virtue signal than do something that would address their concerns in a positive way. Worse, any activities the strikers choose to engage in will likely do more harm than good.

I was hoping that the retards handcuffing themselves to a boat would have been beaten and arrested since what they were doing was considered a felony. The original idea came from an undercover cop at OWS Dallas as a way to lure people into getting a felony charge.

All of these idiots could've stayed home and changed the frame on their Facebook profile pic and that would've had just as much effect as this giant virtue signal did.

None of these people care about the issue, it's just a photo op for likes and retweets. If you need an audience for your good deed, you're not as selfless as you think you are.

And don't fucking litter and light shit on fire at an environmentalist rally you dingbats.
