About the only "faith" I have in any administration at all is that the people involved in it are more likely than not going to continue to behave exactly as they have in the past. Maybe I prefer one batch of scumbags to the other, but they're both just batches of scumbags. They will continue to be scum, and on top of that, so stupid that even when they act in what they think is their own selfish interests, they'll often be wrong and just do stupid shit that harms not only everyone else but themselves, too.

Thank you very much for your gracious support to cock.li over the last few weeks. The cock.li team wants you to know that your donations have allowed us to place fighting for cock.li as our top priority.
This new era for cock.li means you can rest assured that we will make efforts to keep our userbase updated on the current happenings to the maximum extent possible. Cock.li started as a hobby project, and was slowly neglected over the years as upkeep mounted while interest in the project waned. Now that engaged people are working on the site every day again, you should expect that you will have some descriptions of the work that's going on, i.e. where your money is going.
If it seems like work is currently slow, that's because most of the required work is in the background, and it would be unwise to detail it at this point. Some day, our work will be less serious, and the quality of updates should improve further.

Cock.li maintains two types of funds: SERVICESAFU and TEAMSAFU, used for operating and staffing costs, respectively. There are two funds because for over 10 years, no one directly related to cock.li was allowed to be paid for their work on it. TEAMSAFU is our solution to allow us to get paid for our work on cock.li, and there's much work to be done.

The problem with warrant canaries is that I don't think I've ever seen them used reliably. Did the feds really bust down the front door or did the guy just get bored or forget to update the canary? Who knows? Who could possibly know?

Open question to all: is there any warrant canary you would trust, and 100% believe there was government interference if it went down?

There is no PGP sig for this message, and the transparency directory is empty except for a zero-length file called import_coming_very_soon. The warrant canary is from yesterday, but properly signed. If this is a hijack, it would have to have been very recent.

Warrant canaries and transparency logs are a joke because nobody who's in a position to want them ever updates them regularly enough to be a reliable indicator. Did the guy get black-bagged or is he just working through a bag of Taco Bell? Who knows? Who could possibly know?

It's the lack of signature on the announcement that makes me suspicious. The canary is just what tells you that Vince was still active yesterday.

It would make me suspicious if I thought he was usually a signature diehard. But this whole thread is full of "I dunno, signature is missing, signature is late, what could it mean?".
If anything, sloppy signature use is an argument in favor of the same guy as ever being in charge, for better or for worse.
