CoD Declared best Video Game Series Of All Time

I still can't believe activision of all people is dropping the hard redpills and dunking on battlefield again.

for years people have been telling dice to go "back to basics" with cold war gone hot or even korean war because a) near future is fucking played out by now and b) cod already beat them to the punch with WW2 (which they did anyway), and now cod takes battlefields lunchmoney again. unless they go full scifi (which they won't because too many people shat on infinite warfare) I can't even imagine what they're going with. fucking vietnam again? with activisions track record that's probably already next year's entry...

As someone who enjoys COD campaigns, Treyarch really went off the rails for me after BO2. BO3 was just awful and BO4 didn't even have a campaign - plus it sounds like it was a microtransaction hellscape.

Hope they can get their shit back together for this one.

Right, the game about how going Shock and Awe on random 3rd-world shitholes leads to disaster and misery is "Bush-era right-wing militarism".
I like how they're totally fine with the propaganda in a WW2 setting but the second it's translated into a modern era, they lose their minds.
It's Medal of Honor all over gain, it's all great when it's WW2 with videos of veterans but it's "big yikes, not a good look" when it's set in a modern setting.

propaganda

I love that word, it's probably my favorite one in the English language, for the simple fact that the negative connotation of the word is entirely based on the implication that "oh, no, my side would never be so debased and uncouth as to present ourselves in the best possible light".

Medal of Honor had you play as the Taliban, which led to a shitload of butthurt.

However the new CoD on the other hand just made up faction names rather than America or Russia.

All my time playing CoD since Modern Warfare 2's launch, I've never figured out how to use C4 like an instant grenade. Like when you toss it and detonate it upon launch.

Or why laser sights weren't officially added in multiplayer until Black Ops II.

The only problem I have regarding IW's campaign is that it is pretty obviously a clear cut good vs. evil storyline, with the SDF being portrayed as so over-the-top evil that it's almost comical (heck, even the quotes from them seem like they're from a Saturday morning cartoon villain). But it manages to make up for that by fleshing out the characters you are fighting alongside much better. Granted, some of the developments they get are a bit abrupt and the like, but on the whole, I really grew to care for them. That, and it has what I consider to be one of my favorite robot companions in all of gaming.

It's a shame I feel that so many people jumped on the hate bandwagon for the game solely due to the setting and thanks to Battlefield 1. Cause I really think IW needs more attention, if not for the multiplayer (which admittedly is a bit underwhelming), then for the campaign.

even at it's worst SDF was never portrayed like the usual LE EVIL BAD GUYS NAZI STAND-INS torturing puppies in front of you and shit to cram down your throat how "evil" they are. considering they were left on mars on their own and had to make it work, that form of indoctrination required to survive in that environment isn't surprising. "death is no disgrace" for a collective where the individual doesn't matter is hardly saturday morning cartoon imo and actually makes sense.

as for the shit it got, it was around the time when bf3/4 leeched a lot of players from cod, and a lot of those transplants had to signal how much more "mature" they are now by playing battlefield instead of a "kiddie-game" like cod, plus some healthy astro-turfing by EA probably. you can't tell me so many people that didn't care about IW at all somehow cared enough about it to downvote the trailer so hard it became one of the worst rated ever. not even last jedi and all the other franchise rapes managed to elicit that level of hate.

which is a legit shame, that universe (pun intended) had so much fucking potential, the campaign was actually well written and designed (nonlinear, stealth mission and seamless space sections), actually new zombie campaign with some fun easter eggs (although that all cod zombies is really) and mp being at least serviceable. although when you cared about that you were rather playing tf2 at that point since that was what they tried to copy.
