I think capitulation is the best short term strategy because there are only two outcomes, and both are negative for them from a censorship perspective.

1. They undo the block at which point you can simply point out the censorship. People have to then show their cards, agreeing or disagreeing with the censorship.

2. They don't undo, which immediately shows it was never about the content they referred to in the first place. At that point it's obvious to any reasonable party that this is about taking down embarrassing information rather than some altruistic moral crusade.

Take my like and concession that you also make a fair point. There have been many times I've read his responses exactly to those effects and thought it was out of line and overkill.
