It's been my fragrance for years, inexpensive at 35€ per bottle, pleasant and subtle smell. In the past i used "Xeryus Rouge" by Givenchy and "Fahrenheit" by Dior but the last time i tested them out at the store they weren't as pleasant to me as they used to be. The price is also more than i like to spend on luxuries nowadays. "Night Flyer" by Versace is another one i used for years but that one seems to be "out of print", maybe i am misremembering the name, can't find anything on Google.
Also, people who bathe in cologne need to be shot, if i can smell you from two blocks away you used too much.
I like Chanel Number 5, Coco Mademoiselle, and YSL Black Opium.
Girlfriend likes the Number 5 and Coco but i think they're both too heavy. I hate the original Opium with a passion, shit's almost oppressive. I bought her Gucci Gardenia, it's very pleasant.
The one I like to use most is Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme
That's a really nice one i thought about buying before.

i dont ever wear any, but the one or two times i have ive used the classic clean masculine scent of brut. probably the best smelling of the cheap as dirt brands of cologne that ive smelled.

you left out the classic: hoppe's #9.
Or for our eastern bloc friends, the smell of heated cosmoline as it evaporates from the wooden forend of your freshly issued AKM as the barrel gets hotter and hotter.

And that specific acrid smell of gunpowder from corrosive surplus ammunition that sat in a Yugoslavian warehouse for 50 years.

It's so basic bitch, but on my husband, I'm really into Ombré Leather, the EdP one. I get a lot of free samples and I just give him whatever is for men, we'll both sample true unisex fragrances, (Althaïr Parfums de Marly comes to mind as one that was great on both of us) and I keep all the women's perfumes, except the very sweet ones, which I give to my daughter. I remember initially getting Ombré Leather when I was just starting off in the fragrance world and thinking, who the fuck wants to smell like a new car or a biker, sounds very tryhard to me, but the cardamom sticks so beautifully. It's a much more interesting scent than I gave it credit for and it ended up being a really pleasant sample, and I got him the full bottle for Father's Day because he kept on saving the tiny vial for special occasions, lol.
For me, I've been really into Le Long Fond recently, it truly smells like a Northern forest, very green obviously. I think it would work on men or women just as well, I initially thought it'd be one of those scents I relegate to the cupboard until the cold weather is back, but I've been surprised to notice that it works just as well in the middle of summer. I also really like Sur le Nil, definitely the standout of the Un Jardin... collection for me. Gourmands and sweet, floral scents aren't really for me, but I did really enjoy the 2013 formulation of Miss Dior EdT, I was pretty impressed with Don't Be Shy as far as outright gourmands go, and Musc Noir Rose intrigues me quite a bit, just not enough to pull the trigger.

Sometimes smelling like spent engine oil gets old so it's good to freshen things up with some WD40 for men and Liqui Moly Klima Fresh perfume.

lmao my memory might be failing me, but I DO believe the WD40 was an April Fools prank from 10+ years ago. There are certainly some fragrances that are puzzling in one way or another, though-
Secretions_Magnifiques.jpg

Gay incel or hetero femcel who can't score? Here is Secretions Magnifiques, which smells like human excretions, most specifically semen.

Same pitch, but for the Ethan Ralphs of this world who really want you to think they're swimming in pussy or whatever.

There is an inexplicable and booming industry of Spongebob Squarepants fragrances as well.

This is kind of cheating, since Demeter's whole point is to make a library of fragrances, so they pinpoint specific scents and make them as photorealistically as they can even if they wouldn't necessarily be considered wearable. Pizza is one, obviously, but so are funeral home, holy water, play-doh, petrichor, paperback, earthworm AND a separate one for dirt, sushi, and new baby.

I've never personally smelled these nor have I talked to someone who has, so I'll copy and paste something about it-
''Odeur 53 smells like desert sand, flame, Indian rubber, oxygen and a white hot bulb.
Odeur 71 encompassed the scent of dust on a red hot bulb, hot metal, freshly toasted bread, ink, batteries and more.''

Perfumery is extremely autistic, and there's always been a fringe section of perfumers and other artists surrounding the profession that don't necessarily go for beautiful or appealing. Sometimes it's tryhard bullshit meant to be written about, but sometimes it's pretty cool, like the guys from 1759 who decided for reasons unknown to take jewelry amber and heat it up until it became a liquid, noticed it smelled nice, and treated it with nitric acid, which made it smell even better. There's also the case of Baur, a chemist, who was exploring derivatives of TNT and who discovered that one sucked as an explosive but smelled much like musk, which was very expensive as a natural product. He marketed his Musk Baur to perfumers, and it was a hit because it was comparatively extremely cheap, and it became a popular ingredient up until the 1970s. Why could that be? Well, it was discovered that they were photosensitizers and occasionally neurotoxic. lmao.

Classic Match Polo It's cheap, it smells great. I've had women and men come up to me and say I smell wonderful, ask me my scent, and a couple just smell me. Women aren't taught personal space I guess.

Tobacco Vanille

18.21 Man Made Sweet Tobacco

Both of these are great. I love anything w/ a good tobacco. I had a lesbian who hated both men and myself say I smelled really, really good while wearing the cheap oil. She changed her tune once she knew it was me. Still, fuck you.

Maybe someone can help me. That classic match, I believe it's just a polo green knock off; yeah? Maybe I'll pick one up. Is the premium stuff worth it?

The opening is better in the PG version imho, but not so much that it's necessarily worth paying premium for. If you don't care about a more nuanced blend or if you mind the slight sourness of CM and it's worth the price tag, it might be worth considering. You can definitely walk into a Macy's or Sephora and sample it, or there are online decanters/resellers that will sell you just a sample that you can compare to what you have. I think PG has taken a nosedive, so if you want a true comparison, maybe locate a vintage. If it were my husband, my opinion would be that CM is perfectly serviceable, and I tend to think dupes lose a lot of what makes an original special- it's just not there for me with the current PG. Quorum is another dupe that's very cheap and maybe better-suited for the office, so don't expect a beast frag.
As for sample sales- Lucky Scent and Fragrancenet are the best-known, Perfumed Court is good for vintage things, Ajevie is good for niche stuff, Surrender to Chance isn't bad either. I've heard of Scentsplit but haven't used it.
Tobacco Vanille is great, I am not a huge fan of Maison Margiela other than By the Fireplace and Soul of the Forest, but Jazz Club is the third that piqued my interest as it seems to be a take on TV that's more unisex. TV definitely wears me, as a woman, so it's out, but I liked a lot of what it had going on.

I think I'll do that. Would you have recommendations for a "better" PG? I've been very happy with CM, I'm sure I'll always have a bottle for work or whatever, but the scent seems to work w/ my natural scent. I've worn several scents through the years, and that CM always gets comments. Idk if the CM is great or PG is great or if it just works that well with my natural scent.

Body chemistry is real, I couldn't deal with any of my favorites when I was expecting and I thought it was just me, but even my husband couldn't recognize my tried-and-true perfumes on me. The only difference is I HATED the way they smelled, and he liked it, it was just entirely different.
For me, if you're interested in PG, I would make sure I am getting the Cosmair version, that would be the ne plus ultra for me of PG-style/epoch green scents. This is a good resource for figuring out what a legit bottle would be if you ever get there but stay wary of trusting Fragrantica or any other perfume review website, there are some insane people there who will tell you that any green scent is similar to PG and you'll end up paying more for samples than you would have just getting what you were originally curious about. Warner bottles are also okay, but Cosmair really hits it out of the park for this profile for me.
Vintage Quorum would work as well, but I don't have as much to say about it, haha.
That being said, if you are happy with PG, I would just wonder whether or not a slight improvement is worth the potential cost in samples if you end up going that route, because I spent wayyyyy too much over a few years trying to find a dupe for my now-defunct favorite to just find out that I need to buy my vintage one when I'm low and it pops up because nothing else will do, like I could have outright bought 2 or 3 full bottles for the cost of my quest. Taught me a lesson, though! The Macy's and Sephora in-store sampling is great though, my husband and I stop every time we're nearby just to see if there's something new that appeals to us. We love locational bonding events, lol.

I'll probably seek out a Cosmair and / or a Warner ; maybe a standard PG just for comparison. I'm happy w/ CM and the scents I actually enjoy are tobacco based and would rather spend my tism energy over that. But, if I can spend a bit of time (...and money) to try "proper" PG, maybe save it for dates / events. That can be fun.

Fragrance is something I've really gotten into because of my girl, but I really like Sauvage.

Thats generally the reason why men develope an interest in Perfume.

I currently own 3 different ones. "This is us!" by Zadig & Voltaire is my current favourite for a day to day basis. Its a decent unisex Eau de Toilette that smells a bit sweet and spicy.
For more formal occasions i got some MontBlanc Explorer or some Chrome by Azzure.

I've always wanted to get Zadig & Voltaire fragrances, they came out with a new version of "This is Him" called "This is Reallt Him" which I think is probably an intense version of the original.

The worst ever women's fragrance was that revolting Sunflowers shit that every girl wore back in the late 90's. Man, it was vile. I used to have to move away from women who had it on, it was that offensive.
I loved Sunflowers, but used it so much I got burned out on it. Plus, I used it during a rather low point in my life, and when I smell it now it brings back all of the bad memories of that time.

@Triple Flutz, I love Jazz Club as well. There's something very cozy and comfortable about it.

Has anyone noticed how Third Worlders seem to think wearing excessive amounts of an overly strong fragrance makes them less smelly and dirty?
