Amerigo is the one who came up with the idea that the Americas was not Asia, and for that it was named after him.

Some poor city worker has to clean those up. And it's not as easy as wiping it down with some Windex and a paper towel. Restoration can be very expensive. Especially if there is permanent damage. Those are publicly displayed monuments and vandalizing them just makes your community look ugly. And then you look like an exceptional individual.

I'm really against defacing art. Put it in a museum if it's such a problem. Stop trying to erase history. Once that art is destroyed we cannot get it back. The next generation might actually be interested about learning things rather than being triggered by them.

He was trying to get an acting career going at a time when looking too Italian only landed you roles like "gangster #3". So when kids on Tumblr REEE over it (or Cracked recently) they don't really get that it was a different time and it wasn't just precious Pee Oh Cees getting the shaft in Hollywood. Although one might argue that Iron Eyes Cody was born in a time when many people didn't consider Italians white. The SJW kiddies today have no concept of what it was like for people of European heritage that looked too ethnic. They were heavily discriminated against in some places.

Oh, that's okay. The government will pay for it! The government is a bottomless bucket of money that can pay for universal health care, top-flight education through grad school, a living wage for everyone, and unlimited immigration--so they should also be able to cover a little vandalism, amirite?
 
The funniest thing about Columba’s Day salt is all the virtue signaling by city councils means nothing. It’s a federal holiday that isn’t going anywhere and will forever be printed on calendars.
