Glazed meatloaf with Kraft original mac n cheese & French-cut green beans as sides.

Warm slice of homemade apple pie with vanilla ice cream on top. Goes great with coffee in the morning (no ice cream if it's with coffee though)

Storebought comfort food for me is Stouffer brand Lasagna. And microwave minestrone soup. I love it.

For a "whole meal", pan-fried sliced potatoes and onions, with bacon and a fried egg. It was dad's specialty when he had to cook, for one reason or another.

For a sweet to over-indulge in, my mom's homemade carrot cake. Thankfully she left me her recipes, so I've learned to make it on my own since she passed.

Nutty Buddy bars. They were always the one junk food snack my parents would buy, sometimes. I'd look forward to trips out into the woods to collect mushrooms, or berries, or firewood. Just me and my parents alone in the woods for a whole day, with the same meal, mom would pack the same meal every time - bologna salad sandwiches, potato sticks, jugs of lemonade, and a couple boxes of Nutty Buddy bars.

Kartoffelpuffer with salmon.
For the americans who only have the lower quality kike version, you call it latkes. you drink Korn with it

- Chickpeas with bacon on tomato sauce.
- Chicken noodle soup with chickpeas, meat, carrots, cabbage and potatoes.
- Macaroni with chorizo (smoked sausage on paprika) and tomato sauce.
- And the good ol' gazpacho with sardines marinated on paprika sauce fresh out of its can.

I reaaally like school food. Some of my favorite memories have been going to school, meeting up with friends in the morning, and eating whatever they had at the time on the menu. I was very surprised to see that Pebblethrow was recreating school style spaghetti, and everyone called it repulsive.

Also during COVID last year, the local schools were just giving away crates of the food that they had in the freezer for that year. Had the time of my life eating stuff that I hadn't eaten in like 15 years.

I know what you mean mate. I used to have turkey drummers/drumsticks with chips a lot at lunch and there's a very particular way they cook en-masse in their trays that makes the taste very hard to replicate.

I'm getting second-hand nostalgia over here. For me, the ultimate school-food nostalgia is weird square pizza with sauce that doesn't really taste like tomato, strange-shaped breaded fish and/or chicken nuggets, and those tiny PET ice cream cups with the paper lids.

This soup I made using orzo pasta, mushrooms, bell peppers, thin beef strips and other stuff was soooo good. I hope to make it again this fall it was really comforting ❤️
