Another summary overview of a Zack video, because... why not?
This one's a little different in that Zack is not 100% insane, remains pretty calm, and, dare I say, makes at least one good point?
Rippa is a gimmick salesman. His comics are novelty items conservatives, Republicans, and libertarians only buy out of protest against the woke. Nobody reads the Rippa comics they buy. (Zack knows this because he didn't find as much online interaction concerning Rippa's comics as he finds with Batman comics.)
Zack is convinced that Rippa and other purveyors of the anti-woke are like mirror images of SJWs who only care about buying something or watching something, because it isn't woke. That these people don't care about quality at all, just about the lack of wokeness. This must be the case, because in Zack's opinion everything they create is bad.
Zack thinks that Rippa's success came from normies finally discovering the culture war that Zack is soooooo bored with now. (I don't think Zack is totally wrong. But the point Zack always misses is that it does take a very long time for ideas to penetrate into the whole culture and the normiesphere. Every day new people
are realizing that woke is ruining everything, and because they aren't as delusional as Zack, who thinks everything is great now, they do want alternative entertainment.)
Zack thinks that everybody has become as bored with the culture war as he is now. (Apparently, the fact that people who would be described as part of the culture war continue to see more and more growth of audience is something Zack doesn't understand. Why would culture warriors be getting new subscribers as Zack bleeds subscribers if people were all so bored with it all now?)
Rippa's protest model is outdated, because mainstream entertainment is so good now that if you aren't a bum watching TV all day, a normal, working person will have a full amount of great entertainment now to keep up with. (Zack does not give details about this supposed overwhelming bounty of great entertainment being put out by the mainstream now.)
During the video Zack starts talking about Rippa talking about a parallel economy. This was the one instance where I thought he had might have a legit point. Zack researched the idea of a parallel economy using ChatGPT. (Do people really use ChatGPT as an authoritative source now?) Based on ChatGPT's definition of a parallel economy, Zack thinks that this is a buzzword that doesn't really apply to what Rippa is doing.
(I'm actually inclined to agree with Zack here. I don't really know if the definition of a parallel economy supplied by AI is legit or not. I don't know much of anything about parallel economies, but it does sound like Rippa's lolbertarianism is kicking in, and he's trying to portray what he's doing as something more revolutionary than it is. I would say he is just acting as an independent publisher in the regular economic system.)
Zack compares people being excited about the culture war victories to sports fans that he thinks are dumb because why should they be celebrating when they weren't on the field doing anything themselves. (Way to go, Zack. Pick another fight, this time with all sports fans, why don't you?)
Zack has been late on releasing his books, because he has "more ideas than the capacity to get them all out on time." (Ok, Mr. professional publishing man. I'm sure your customers will love that excuse.)
Zack saves his best delusional take for last. He claims that ever since that video he released about him being the NCO of YouTube, he has successfully "checked" the BPCs. According to Zack, they are now providing more evidence that they actually watch things. (Zack will forever be a legend in his own mind.)
