"sassy uncles" is not a bad nickname for the anti-woke grifters but it's no BPCs, i give it a solid B-

this has been your regular meyer derogatory sobriquets update

also my friend calls them "soy chuds" which is A+ and meyer will never do better even if he records another 1000 obsessed hours on these guys

If Richard was clever enough to come up with something like that he wouldn't need to make 1000s of videos reeing about them to get attention in the first place

As someone who's been involved in collectible circles for decades I can relate to this, but does it apply to doofus' who think they're supporting a "tribe" or a culture war?
Yes just substitute investments/collectibles with crowdfunds and superchats. Once they go all in the marks are more likely to double down than admit they were taken.

Actual Pedophile (Dane Whitman) has a 1 hour + documentary on Ebonics Speaking Negro Eric July. See him try to justify his obsession with some random black guy on the internet.

but if I brought up comics, they would look at me like I sprouted a second head.
Comics are only 'relevant' in today's markets because of films. But, people aren't going to see the newest marvel slop film and then saying "Golly I need to pick up the comics, surely they are just as good!" anymore. Anyone who thinks Manga and Anime aren't topping comics is just delusional. Most comicbook stores would survive better if they dedicated themselves to selling manga and anime shit.

Marvel Legends (which isn't comics, but has a similar niche market) sold so poorly they haven't even been put up in Target and Walmart in large quantities like they used to in almost half a year.

addendum: I just popped over to Barnes and Noble to pick up a book (a manga) and the absolute state of Western comics to manga ratio is just crazy. They don't even sell the weekly issues, only the collections or graphics novels, that sell for generally double and even triple the price. Obviously, we know why the price gets hiked, it's for printing, etc colors whatever. But, When you look at Marvel and DC, it's very limited to the TYPES of stories told. There's obviously exceptions, but for the most part it's general action fight the big bad guy move on story.

I'm very particular about what series I look into, but even just looking at the manga section to can visually see the difference in genre and type of stories being told. Even if there's no color, you get more story per book for half the cost.

Don't tell me, let me guess.
"Eric is Right wing, he has connections to the blaze, he was on fox News once. How do we know he's not funded by Jeremy boring?"
Forgetting that Eric has a massive following in music, think it's lame if you want but Eric has an audience. Others being faggots about that and insisting otherwise changes nothing.

How weird is it that zack's critiques fit more for EVS's fans than for Eric's.

Guess that's a matter of opinion.

Interesting when you put it that way. Not sure I would classify myself as "taken" as I was never a big superchatter but I was happy to support a crowdfunder every now and then.

Ahh the good ol' days when the detractors were mad about a slave leaving the plantation. I always pictured Dane getting the word "nigger" out of his system before he did a video on Rippa. Is he still on this subject? That's a pretty old video.

ML has a few issues but what you're referencing is more of a Hasbro/Disney problem. The latter did what they did with their properties and the former couldn't sell it due to a combination of lack of interest and low quality merchandise. Transformers has suffered a bit too and GI Joe holds its own even though that property's a niche of a niche. Now all this shit ends up in bargain stores with Hasbro-which you'll recall is a toy company-considering making less toys.

My position is moreso the rot of Comics in the grander scheme of things. If Comics were alive and well, and characters were loved, if kids wanted to buy comic books and toys they could move those units. While yes, Hasbro has the problem of over producing, they would absolutely be able to move them more frequently if Comics and not just films were doing well. Most of the ML lines are comics accurate character designs. Star Wars is by far doing the worst from what I've been seeing.

All true. Could be wrong but I think the ML choking things up were the MCU waves (BW, Eternals, Black Panther, etc.) I actually was in a Target the other day and that part of the toy aisle was pretty weak. Personally I buy that stuff online because toy hunts in 2025 are for shitheads but I suppose that makes me part of the problem.

I cannot remember ever seeing the weekly issues of a comic in a Barnes & Noble, not to say that it hasn't happened, but I for the life of me don't remember ever seeing it in the last 15+ years. But by that same token, I've never seen the non collected forms of Manga, like the various magazines, etc. I just assume it makes it easier for long term inventory and probably a better value for the store to sell a trade than a single issue.

I don't collect toys, but when I used to collect comics, I did enjoy trying to find stuff in person, but at the end of the day, if you can't find it in a store, you can always just hop on the internet.

I'm a "collector" it's my shame. But I also check out there because I have two young niece and nephews. Right now they have a few MCU ML out, but it's really dialed back. Hasbro website has better, I checked recently today to make sure I wasn't just chatting shit (and to be fair, maybe I am.) But it seems they have actual interesting figures in the ML line that aren't even going to show up at Target or Walmart. They have a Warpath / X-23 X-Force two pack coming out from Yost and Kyle's run which I loved, so I might pick them up.

But at this point, it's just guys like me that buy this shit. I can't imagine a child in their 20s or younger is excited to get that particular two pack.

No absolutely it's for ease of selling, only reason I point it out is that, as far as I know, most of their manga are collected in weekly "magazine" style collections, whereas single floppies are just what you ask for (Batman, Superman, etc.) There was also a time where going to a gas station would net you a rack of floppies. At this point the only way to get floppies is ordering directly, or going to one of the few dedicated comic stores.

My curiosity is, how much would those floppies sell if they actually had a small but modest selection of floppies available, and not just the larger $40+ collections. Another thing to note, is I went to a pretty small version of the B+N, and the Manga section still occupied quadruple the comics section, even DnD had a bigger shelf ratio to American comics.

I'm talking about the big spenders, you didn't sink all your money into just a crowdfunder now and then. Myself neither, I bought a handful of books and a few digitals. No special tiers or toys or any bullshit and none of the ones that never shipped. I guess the only sunk cost here is time spent and brain space taken up by remembering bullshit like the time some roastie Nadine urinated live on the Jack show.

I'm a "collector" it's my shame.

I'm not ashamed to be a collector but the hobby is full of emotionally stunted faggots whose biggest problem in life is tariffs on toys. However if I did have children I'd sell everything so they don't become emotionally stunted faggots whose biggest problem in life is tariffs on toys.

Try being a GI Joe fan. Not a one of us is under 38 and the only women in the hobby are the ones who want to be Slutty Baroness on Halloween and the SJW landwhale who happens be the brand manager. Here she is asking 40-year-old men for their pronouns. Someone over her head must've told her she ain't selling Power Rangers because that was more or less it for that nonsense.

Uhh, well, maybe I spent a few bucks on Cyberfrog figures? Funny thing about Cyberfrog, I think people like it, it's the creator that's the problem.

I used to see comics at Barnes & Noble when I would go in there to get the latest issue of 2600 (I wasn't going to buy a subscription and be added to a Fed watchlist). Granted, this was in the late 90's/early 2000's. I haven't been in one in a while, but the last time I was, I didn't see any floppies.

Amen.

I'm waiting for the young Niece and Nephew to get older like my eldest Nephew to see if they will want my offloaded figures, mostly because as much as I enjoyed collecting them, I have no need for them now, they just collect dust and don't hold that special place anymore.
