Honestly? If your comic book is a success, going on to make animated shorts is an obvious next step. July wants to retain control of his companies IPs so any animation or videogames will be made in house.* (It's not unprecedented, that's how Space King operates too.)

Richard just figures doing as little work and being as unambitious as possible is the way to go. I think he made like one piece of merch and then gave up on the idea of merch, I don't think animated shows or videogames ever even occurred to him (despite him loving licensed videogames of his comic book and movie heroes).

*Obviously, the animation will be done by pros, but July will hire them not sell his IP to a company and let them make it.

Two things, it's fantastic if you can make 75K a year by just working 20-25 hours a week, What makes Richard such a jackass is that he rails against those who still want more and go for it.

Second, I wouldn't put it below him to consider the possibility of developing his properties into vidGames and tv shows, but since he has worked in animation and in fields adjacent to game development my guess is that he can fathom the amount of money and effort it takes to do so.

I seem to remember one of his jawbreakers character was playable in an indie game but I cannot find any info on that.

A few day ago Zack made a post where he called one of his viewers an idiot for worrying that the WB-Netflix merger would lead to the disappearance of physical media.
All of the comments in there are against Zack, which is extremely rare nowadays, he didn't bother to hearth any of the comments. Not even the one by justsomeguy.

The new video is just saying that movies going away isn't such a bad deal and that you should watch movies in the cinema and not expect to have every movie available to you at all times.

On a more serious note I think that people don't want physical media to go away. Apparently if you look at Blu Ray sales and sales of physical video games, it's not great but it's far more than what you might expect. It's more a thing that corpos want to happen so they save money in the short term.

He's a weirdo who basically doesn't like non-current-thing movies. If a movie is old, he'll almost always says it is boring or stupid. Meanwhile the latest Crow remake is the best thing ever, while it is in theaters.

The worst part of this is that I think what they want to do is make everything a rental and this has been their dream for a while. Everything from the original Divx to self-destructing DVDs has been tried. There are good reasons to believe some large media companies prefer a rental model even if it is bad for cinema as a whole.

I think a fan had made a very basic bitch shooter in Unreal where you could run around shooting people and shoot psychic energy as Silkworm from Jawbreakers, there was a video where Zack had it playing in the background, but I don't think it survived his purge.

As someone who adores Narnia, while doing some power-metal over the top horseshit would be missing the mark, it would at least be fun. Everything I hear from the Gerwig Narnia project sounds like the most retarded corporate re-skin imaginable.

Even Narnia the metal band gets the Christian symbolism better than Gerwig seems to,

I can see why he did not use us. Most negative takes on CG are omitted in favour of purely confirmed stuff with exceptions on the really disgusting but irrelevant actions such as the urinal incident. Still, he did not lie. He just stuck to the parts that were truly CG as a movement as opposed to whatever EVS turned it into.

It is. Eric July fulfills the original goals of CG without being part of it. The movement has died, was brought back as a zombie by EVS and co. and lives on in the heart of the Rippaverse.
