Honestly? If your comic book is a success, going on to make animated shorts is an obvious next step. The rest of the video is Zack talking about fire festival and comparing its failure to Eric July
He then spins all of this into "If you enjoy it who cares if it flop" attitude to justify his failure but still acuse Eric July of being a failure and a fraud because he's asking for money to produce animation shorts.
Richard just figures doing as little work and being as unambitious as possible is the way to go. I think he made like one piece of merch and then gave up on the idea of merch, I don't think animated shows or videogames ever even occurred to him (despite him loving licensed videogames of his comic book and movie heroes).
*Obviously, the animation will be done by pros, but July will hire them not sell his IP to a company and let them make it.
