#Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

I didn't watch any of their videos about it but I am getting the impression that EVS/Zack are ripping on Eric July for falling so far that he had to adopt their exact normal business model as a one-off for an experimental side project. Is it something other than that because "lol he had to do what we do all the time. sucks to be him" doesn't sound like that great of a burn.

Fandom Faggot Initiative is still coping and seething at le based negro Eric July

Great video but you got some things wrong because you aren't the biggest fan of comics and thus weren't caught up in it.

1) The people casuals hail as the leaders of comics gate (Ethan Van Schiver and Ya Boi Zack) were not fighting against diversity, they just wanted money for their original IPs that no one wanted to buy, and it hamstrung a movement that could have done a lot of good.

2) We're at the end of 2025 and Marvel and DC are STILL DEI focused (such as the recent comic where Doc Ock claims he was pardoned by Trump himself), people, even comics gate itself, just don't talk about it anymore because they got burnt out and became apathic. Ethan just complains about Eric July nowadays while Zack just complains about Nerdrotic and Critical Drinker while deleting past videos and posts. They both have lost subscribers for years because they promise comics and don't deliver them. Only Eric July has managed to get his comic business going, albeit slowly and steadily.

3) When people stop buying a Spider-Man comic, they don't look for something new, they just quit altogether because they care about the brand, not the median.

4) You calling Glen Beck a conspiracy theorist for saying Miles Morales looks like Barack Obama but here's the thing - THIS WASN'T ORGANIC. The woman who was in charge in developing new characters at Marvel, Sana Amanat, has ties to the Clinton Foundation (she is cousin to Huma Abedin, Hilary Clinton's aide), so they had financial motivation to do this.

5) Nobody likes Jane Foster Thor, stop lying, the only ones who do write fanfiction and make DeviantArt material of her.

6) Ethan Van Schiver and Ya Boi Zack did NOT create comics gate, they weren't even the first ones there. There was Douglas Ernst (now at Iconic Comics), who started this. Ilovecomics just backed off and just talked about classic comics but doesn't really upload anymore. ThatUmbrellaGuy, who covered the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial, he moved on from comics gate because he lost interest. YellowFlash who is now publishing his own comic under Rippaverse. Ethan was not a part of this. Neither was Zack, he gained popularity in 2017 after the Baltimore Comic Con Mark Waid fit where he thought he was going to confront him but didn't.

7) Months later, some professionals at New York Comic Con heard Ya Boi Zack was going to attend and worked to get him kicked out, as reported by PJ Media. WHY DID YOU IGNORE THIS?

8) Ethan was not fired because he voted for Donald Trump, he was fired for being slow and not meeting deadlines. He was not crowdfunding at this time.

9) The first comics gate comic, Alt Hero by Chuck Dixon, raised more than $250,000. This is what made Richard Meyer start Jawbreakers on Kickstarter (also Ethan was NOT the first to do this, you got that wrong), but lied about Kickstarter banning him over politics. He was kicked off because he didn't meet the previous campaigns. The only comic writer who has been banned by Kickstarter is JDA Talks Comics for his political views.

10) You are ALSO WRONG, it was after Richard Meyer did Jawbreakers, then Ethan followed suit with Cyberfrog. The Dark Roast is just Richard ripping into people with no substance.

11) Vox Day was helping smaller creators, Ethan pretended to want to make a community, but he just brought people from Marvel and DC and said that "if you didn't work on Marvel or DC, you aren't professional". Vox talked to Ethan and said he would make an imprint called comics gate comics where everyone can publish there stories, but then Ethan saw a chat reaction and tried to cancel Vox with War Campaign.

12) Richard settled with Mark Waid and didn't get anything, it was just a grift. This is what Ethan and Richard do, open campaign, grift, repeat. The algorithm pushed them because they didn't really stand for anything.

Ethan, Richard and what followers they have left turned on the people they claimed to help, they didn't want to offer an alternative to Marvel and DC, they just wanted money. As apposed to someone like Eric July who made a new comic company and has new material coming out every other month.

Again, nothing against you personally, but I think you should of at least talked to someone like Eric July, JDA Talks Comics, YellowFlash etc. (I don't care if you like or hate them) because they have more experience with this. This video just feels to much like fence sitting.

Yeah I hope we don’t get revisionist history on how bad Western comics got and why.

Comics Gate being rabid retards doesn’t change anything about how evil and incompetent the industry regulars have been for over a decade.

@MikeyNohMore is this a future stream maybe? Just to get the record straight?

Zack just deleted a bunch of youtube community posts. The most recent one being from 2 years ago.
Could this be related? No real change in his youtube videos tough.
He's done this before but the timing is interesting. There isn't a single posts shit talking the BPCs or Eric July up.
The latest one is shiting on Kathleen Kennedy for ruining Star Wars.
I (and others) have put a lot of this into archive.today (not all of them obviously), so he can't really delete it all. In order to find them, you'll probably have to use this thread, since the format of community posts on Youtube looks something like:

www.youtube.com/post/Ugkx8ZxNvwPrGn1KbYio7xYExs5FnI8jNYaD

(A deleted post, which you can find here: https://archive.ph/9Lsvy )

Is it worth it to preserve the effluvia from a drooling retard? Well, who knows, but since he decided they were worthy of deleting maybe so.

That reads almost exactly like JDA's "correction" video he just posted. It covers the exact same points. One of them had to have lifted from the other or it is secretly the same guy. I'm not saying more than one person can't remember the "true" story but the exact same collection of bullet points seems unlikely. You'd think there would be some events that mattered to one guy and not the other.

> Eric July sells more comics than Ethan and Zack combined.
> FNT zeroes have more subs and views than Ethan and Zack combined.

If they're floundering and "loosing" momentum, what the fuck are Ethan and Zack doing?

"How Embarrassing" what the heck is that supposed to mean? This guy needs to feel profound shame for trying to sum up a failed cultural movement for normies? It isn't as if he got caught passing out in a urinal or anything. Get some perspective, man. It's entirely fine and harmless. I don't get all annoyed when some 20 year old who wasn't there tries to tell me about the history of the Sega Saturn or whatever. All, "eww gross he left out that one detail about yuji naka"

It just seems like some lazy way of trying to condescend and posture, positioning himself above that guy without any real reason to deserve to.
