So Richard put up a new review video complaining about Tom King and talking about some batman story from a few years ago. But the interesting thing is that he was displaying the comic pages on-stream direct from a pirate site. (readcomiconline)

I'm not up on youtube and marvel/DC attitudes on this kind of thing, but it seems rather ballsy to me to do reviews direct and unambiguously from pirated content. Has been doing this for a while? And is this not a problem from a publisher point of view for him?

I would have thought that this kind of dumbass behavior would earn a copyright strike.

I remember he didn't like the formatting of comics on Comicsology(shit remember that?) So he would buy the comics digitally and then read them off a pirate site because the pirate sites formated them better.

He has been doing it for at least 2 years.
He has never acknowledged the legality or morality of it.
Taking into account "Comic Book the Comic Book" It's clear that Zack doesn't even consider copyright an issue.

He really wanted to make his gay Ethan Hunt fanfic a comic. And he refused to make it "not-Ethan-Hunt" too.

Not entirely, he used to speak highly of EJ like all the time. He admired his dedication to his craft, his hustle, etc. He and Gary were friends and he was a fan of Az. He also collabed with Drinker. I honestly think it has more to do with professional jealously, but I'd say you were spot on with everything else.
 
In regards to the situation with Iconic Comics, Lim and fellow creator Douglas Ernst (of the Iconic title Soulfinder) have addressed the rumors now and then, including the idea that Lim's wife works for Iconic, and that they're accused of using "weasel words" and being "cultists" for adding clarification.

Ethan Van Sciver's war on Tim Lim has been going on since the summer of 2018. It started with Ethan going after Lim's Trump-themed parody books of that era as being unfit for comicsgate. Tim Lim won that battle because Ethan's audience wasn't quite ready to become a cult (yet).

Relations worsened considerably after Ethan and Tim Lim both attended Mitch breitweiser's great commicsgate summit later that summer. Mitch revealed his deal to get distribution in Walmart to the people that attended and offered to let them in on the deal. But part of the deal offered involved surrendering character rights and nobody took Mitch up on it. Ethan Van Sciver - Being Ethan - tape recorded the entire meeting and the theory has always been that he taped it for the publisher of Dynamite Comics. Dynamite comics was Ethan's undisclosed publisher for the first issue of cyberfrog.

The meeting was also the source of an eventual conspiracy theory where Tim Lim played Burglar Bill at Mitch's house and somehow stole nude photos of Mitch's wife which then (somehow) shared with everyone in comicsgate. By legend, there was some weird fap folder of internet comics women that was circulating among comicsgate at the time. The source of it was unlikely to have been Tim Lim, but it seems that someone let lewds of Mitch's wife go out among (by rumor) people like TUG. My theory has always been that the distributor of the photos was probably Mitch himself.

Then around Labor Day 2018, Ethan's negotiations with Vox Day broke down, Ethan unveiled his "warcampaign" and Ethan had to reluctantly become the "leader" of comicsgate to save it from the evil within it. Unless the dangerous people were kept out of comicsgate (by Ethan), everyone in comicsgate was going to be "cancelled" by the SJWs.

Richard had recently launched his crusade against Drinker due to autism and/or the hostility over the Stallone business connection he may have torpedoed for both of them. Since Richard's old "punch the biggest guy in the yard" strategy didn't work anymore because it was no longer 2017 and nobody gave a fuck, Richard suddenly needed allies.

Unfortunately, there was only one contact in Richard's phone who he hadn't permanently alienated, and that's because Ethan is a transactional sociopath who doesn't do permanence. Ethan is always down for a food fight and happily welcomed Zack out from his cave, and so shortly later Richard C Meyer was creating semi-weekly videos deriding the works of Eric July, a man who he had, until then, complimented profusely on his seriousness as a businessman in contrast to the Big 2. And he's still doing it.

But its also obviously views. Because he gets way more views attacking other people now than he does talking about anything else.

I think this is his intent, but looking at his views now I can't even tell. He's down to background radiation levels.
