Transcript:
Hi everyone, it's your boy Zach, and this is not a review of X-Men Omega Red Dawn number one, which I liked until I got to page 11 and Deadpool's on it. I feel like, legally, Marvel should have to say that Deadpool is in a book on the cover because I got halfway through, I'm invested, and I turn the page, it's like, oh, it's Deadpool being silly. Hell no! Hell no! Oh, and he's on a little team in the 1991 X-Men continuity where he never would have been on the team because that was a thing that came much later.

Yeah. Funny thing is, it's Steve Orlando, and I've actually been liking, I really like X-Men Outback. This started off quite well, but Deadpool, especially in this era, no, no, no.

I think I'll finish the issue, but I'm not finishing the miniseries, not unless they write him out. But anyway, and I'm a little salty because I'm suffering some second-degree bean soup burns right now. I watched the Conan the Barbarian with Jason Momoa rewatch, and I saw it when it first came out on DVD.

I wasn't crazy about it. I think I liked the beginning, and then I didn't like What's-Her-Name-Is-That-Witch, but I rewatched it with a friend. It was really, really good.

So I did a community post about it, and I just got bean souped. It's like, well, I hate it because of this. Well, I hate it because of this.

It's like, I actually don't have to do this. I saw something. I liked it.

I tried to share it with people, hoping they would also enjoy it. I got bean souped. I don't have to be here, you know? So I think I'll just stop.

I'll just watch things and enjoy them and talk to my friends about them, but I'm not gonna try to bring more joy to the world anymore. Just getting bean souped on a Sunday morning. But anyway, so the final trailer for Wolverine came out, and men in their 40s, 50s, and 60s went through it frame by frame, in some cases zooming in to find things to complain about.

And it's oh so tiresome. But there was something especially funny this time, in that they got the character wrong for the first 24 hours of that outrage cycle. So they went 24 hours of calling her Psylocke, to which then people were like, it's Lady Deathstrike.

There's more than one Asian woman in the X-Men lore. And then all of a sudden, they just pivoted. They didn't pivot and say, I obviously don't know what I'm talking about.

I'm gonna leave this conversation. They pivoted to, why isn't Lady Deathstrike beautiful? To which I say, have you ever read any of her comics for like the first 10 years? So I haven't reread all of these comics, but I flipped through them. I forgot she was introduced as a freaking daredevil.

She was a daredevil love interest. So the thing was, she had a scar on her face, but Matt was blind, he couldn't see it. He loved her anyway, or he found her mildly attractive.

This was in the post-Frank Miller days, where I never liked Denny O'Neil's take on Daredevil. Like, ever. Some pretty cool art.

So he goes over to Japan and he meets Yuriko, who she will become the Lady Deathstrike that we know. And she's got a whole bunch of issues with her father, who was a failed kamikaze pilot, as we see when she popped up in Alpha Flight, of all things, a few years later as a samurai. She wasn't a samurai in the Daredevil storyline, but suddenly she's basically female, silver samurai.

So she's got this, whatever you call this, kind of getup, which she consistently has and has. I mean, I'll just run down the list, you know, the most mediocre men have the highest expectations for everything, skinny, fat, and skinny fat, bald or balding guys, talking about other people's looks. They were saying that the character got hit with the ugly stick when she's just a 50-year-old woman who's not trying to look good because she's a 100-year-old cyborg obsessed with revenge.

But yeah, so she popped up, and then a little reference, like, we're not going to totally write out that she started as a Daredevil love interest, but we're going to basically forget about it. Here's the scar that her father made her wear because of his shame of failing as a, I don't know, he tried. Is that what the Japanese symbol on her cheek says? I tried.

But yeah, so suddenly she's silver samurai, and then she pops up again about a year later in this classic issue of X-Men drawn by Barry Windsor Smith looking like this. Now, mind you, again, we have been told by a bunch of people who didn't even know who she was three days ago that this woman is the epitome of beauty and it's completely cut. They don't know anything about her.

They don't know anything about her. They didn't recognize her when they saw her. They couldn't use context to say, like, oh, it's that blade that Psylocke uses sometimes.

But is it Psylocke? No, it doesn't make sense because it's got the, whatever you call that outfit she has. So it's probably Lady Deathstrike. I looked at it and immediately said Lady Deathstrike because Lady Deathstrike is older, her father was a World War II vet and that hasn't been retconned.

She's also been at the body shop on Mojo World to get cyborg enhancements from Spiral, hooked up with the Reavers. She did a lot of things, like, in not a lot of episodes, but if you look at the screen right here, this is not a character known for her beauty and I was especially hammered home in Wolverine. Wolverine is the first time I actually encountered this character, so much so that I continually think that Larry Hama invented her.

He didn't. She had been around for about eight years when he started using her, sparingly. And so, is this the first one? Yeah, so.

This was, um, I need to emphasize, this character's been around for a very long time. I'm 53 and these issues came out when I was a senior in high school. So nobody has an excuse to not know who Lady Deathstrike is if you supposedly care about comics so much and confuse her with Psylocke and then say that she's known for her beauty.

Yes, in some comics she is drawn in a generic, you know, I mean, typically comic book artists in the West, they just recycle the same few faces and expressions. But when she pops up in this three-issue storyline, she ain't known for her beauty. She is treated like what her character is, a cyborg monster.

And everyone's kind of, yeah, you can get a couple ones where it's like, okay, her face looks kind of normal, but this is like a default face she goes to when she's not transforming or hulking out. There's a great, uh, scene where they try to lynch her and she just expands her neck like the Hulk. This is some really damn good art, I gotta reread this.

It's a 3D week, 3D, what the hell am I trying to say, 3 day weekend. So I had ChatGPT actually make an infographic about, um, all the appearances from like her first ten years, so I'm gonna go through those today and tomorrow. But I mean, look at this.

This is the character known for her beauty who can't be portrayed as being 50 and fit by a bunch of incels who never talk about women except for to say which ones they aren't attracted to. Plot twist, it's all of them. Um, but yeah, this is a woman known for her beauty with a Hulk neck right there.

And with, you know, this kind of face and constantly being just ripped to absolute shreds by Logan. I mean, this is what she's known for. This is, this is the great beauty that can only be portrayed by Kelly Hugh.

It's funny, I saw, when they were trying to pivot to like, after thinking she was Psylocke for 24 hours, all these, you know, Doomtubers and culture warriors, they were doing these photo collages to illustrate what the character, and like half of them were Kelly Hugh. Who was a mutant, Lady Deathstrike is not a mutant unless that's been retconned. She's a cyborg.

Uh, slash former love interest of Daredevil. Any more of her being just ripped to shreds? Yeah, this, this is your great beauty. Your great beauty of Lady Deathstrike.

Um, let's see, did I close out, oh, there's a Wolverine, let's see if we can see more examples. Okay, yeah, yeah, pretty face right there. But again, this is a default face she transitions back to when she's not hulking out and generally acting like a freaking xenomorph.

She can't even have like a normal interaction with this kid, she's gotta give him this like super creepy smile. But she's just awful. So the, the Insomniac Wolverine, um, is doing its own continuity.

So um, Wolverine is portrayed as looking younger, kind of like during the Ultimate X-Men comics from 25 years ago. It's a different continuity, I believe he's working for Essex, Mr. Sinister, he's on a team with Sabretooth the Mystique, um, the X-Men are not known in the world, it's their own take. I find it refreshing, uh, because it's a different take.

Um, the funniest thing is the elephant in the room is that Wolverine is just, he does two things. Actively, he slashes with claws and he jumps. So that's a lot to get out of a little for a video game.

It's just, just jumping and slashing, well you're healing also, that's, you know, that's not an active thing. I don't think you're pressing a button to heal faster. Um, I always like seeing superheroes with guns.

Um, oh, that didn't last very long. Um, but yeah, blood and claws, so, we get to see the, the, the great beauty. Look at her in all of her beauty.

She's so hot, she looks just like Kelly Hugh. Wait, is this Psylocke? Just fake geeks as far as the eye can see. What did they do to Psylocke? 24 hours later.

Okay, it's not Psylocke. What did they do to- Lady Deathstrike, a character I know nothing about, but I'm just gonna assume she's a great beauty because she's a comic book character. Wow, she's so hot.

Look at her, just so hot with her distended cyborg fingers and her ripped off limbs and her crazy face. So anyway, there you are. Please look at the screen.

That's your great beauty, that's your Kelly Hugh, that's your, you don't know the fuck you're talking about. All of you fucking fake geeks, you're just sports fans who kind of fell into freaking geek culture during a little wormhole in the culture war back in 2018. You guys should be arguing about sports ball.

Instead, you're here just fucking up everything, getting characters entirely wrong, and then instead of just excusing yourself from the conversation, you just pivot to being wrong in a different way. Even when she was created, she wasn't, you know, shown to be some great beauty. She was very plain, they give her this kind of mopey look.

This is not supposed to connote great beauty. This is like a sad, depressed, angry woman scarred by her father for the shame of, oh no man, he tried, he tried to crash it, it just didn't explode, I don't see why that's his fault. I feel like he did everything he needed to do.

But yeah, so TLDR, a bunch of fake geeks who make money telling you everything is terrible with a Republican audience, even though half these people aren't Republican or even American, are needing a new thing to hate after lanterns blew up in their faces by being a critical and commercial hit, and actually going up. Oh, they found one? So, the one they usually use kept showing that the ratings were going up, so they pivoted to another one they've never used before, it's like, well in this metric it went down. Is it the beginning or the end? I certainly hope so, I'm a miserable, bloated, bearded, 50 year old man who hates things for a living.

So useless. Like, what are you? Like, what the fuck are you? Anyway, what the, what is that line right there? What's crazy about that? Anyway, woke, woke Marvel wants to kill you, give me money. Is that how you do it? Is that how 2026 YouTube is done? Give me money and I'll fight the wokies for you.

Oh, apparently that's true, just got a text. The wokie said, please don't fight us, we're scared. I hope people don't keep giving you money because that will defeat us.

Oh shit! Anyway, thanks for watching, bye.

Trying to pull this fake geek gay shit is beyond embarrassing, faggot YOU SAID ONE MORE DAY WAS OVERHATED! This is beyond tourist shit, he can't pull this shit anymore because the critique isn't going against people who hate the characters they're writing, but against people INFINITELY more knowledgeable than him.

No matter the political affiliation at this rate, nearly everyone involved in American comics is a retard. Imagine being ass-blasted over Archie Comics licensing out their characters to a Christian comic publisher fifty years ago when religion always played a big role in the Archie series even the edgy woke era still someone depicted religion in a positive light as in Satanism, cannibal witches, and Cthulhu cultists are never written to sympathy or misunderstood. ComicsTropes is the leftwing Ya Boi Zack. Eric July is one of the few people from Comic YouTube who can write a story that isn’t about politics. Just black beefing with other black people over disrespect. Regarding Comicsgate, Razorfist aka Groomerfist is expressing Ass hurt over Batman's continued popularity compared to The Shadow. He previously faced humiliation when attempting to demonstrate that the Witcher series was a ripoff of Elric of Melniboné, based on similarities such as both main characters having white hair and being mercenaries.

What the fuck dose Razor have to do with anything? Also you clearly didn't watch that video. Jim Staranko has been talking about the plagiarism of the Shadow and EARLY batman since the 70s. Have seen the ComicTropes video so I can't say.
The Razorf1st video has nothing to do with politics.
As for the CT video. He would need to lose 100 iq points in order to be on dicks level.

Critical Blast? a publisher? refused to publish (format and send to a printer) a comicbook by comicsgate faggots because the book had plagiarized trademarked characters. The original infringing version has now been published? using someone else. But the awesome comic was leaked you guyz! For realz! And that's turble because most likely it would've made a zillion dollars without the leak! And so on.

Razorfist can be right about Batman and still be an idiot. Something something broken clock. At least he acknowledged that the current Batman is different from the Shadow. Should some eggs be thrown at Finger and Kane for copying the Shadow? Perhaps. It is good to remember the strengths and the flaws of people, if only for grounding ourselves.

I personally still think Razorfist is wrong and full of shit, since if anything both rip off Zorro, who did the masked vigilante by night, rich fop by day a decade before either of them. Besides, Batman doesn't really do hypnotism and that's like the Shadow's entire fucking shtick.

But then this is also the guy who tries to pretend he's intelligent simply because he thinks metal is a personality. He also has a habit of pretending to be witty by essentially just reading out his script in one long take and pretending that he didn't just either memorize it or is actively reading it behind his sunglasses.

And this is coming from a guy that usually likes to point out when things rip off other things. Because here's the thing: if you do it well it doesn't fucking matter.

I still dunno why he kicked a urinal either... But it's EVS, a man who holds multi year grudges over small disagreements. Mans pathetic

Bruces parents were killed after a showing of Mask of Zero, I think that's a safe nod towards inspiration. They might be of similar style but only one dressed as a Bat. Costumed heroes were a new ventrue

MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS #69- What Should Marvel Do With Yo Mama's Coochie?

Transcript:
This is what my friend said to me. My friend said, I think the weather's trippy. Then I said, no man, it's not the weather that's trippy.

Perhaps it is the way that we perceive it that is indeed trippy. Then I thought, man, I should have just said, yeah. Hi everyone, it's your boy Zach, and I'm very stressed out about the garbage.

I got two or a second garbage can a couple months ago, and that has been both a godsend and a complete waste of time because somehow it went from one garbage can barely being enough, but being enough, to two of them getting full every week. It's crazy. So I forgot last week and so I put it out like three days early this week, like HOA be damned.

But anyway, Perch had a video yesterday called something like, what are we gonna do about Thor? Now it wasn't really about Thor, but he kind of made it about Thor because the viewer question was so fucking boring. Apparently it was like the old man thing where they use the title as the message and the body of the email is empty. So I'm going to estimate the viewer writing in was at least 60, because that is very much an old man thing to do.

But he's like, should Marvel do something with the Warriors 3? I think that would be swell. And I've covered this ad nauseum that I believe most of Perch's letter writers are just asking stalling questions. They want to talk about comics, but they don't read comics and they don't want to give comics a chance again.

So it's just always like, isn't this bad? Isn't this bad? This is the flip side. It's, isn't this good for something completely stupid? So do you remember the Warriors 3? Those three dipshits that would occasionally hang out with Thor? What was it? Volstagg, the Voluminous, Fandral, and Hogan or Hogrun? Just a bunch of dopey... What are they? They suck. It's, it's, you know that thing where I say when SJWs say they love something, it means they heard of it.

Well, it's that effect. It's like, really? Like, you don't want to read or talk about like the Benjamin Percy Punisher, which is like really awesome, or any of the really excellent miniseries right now? You want to do a hypothetical about a book that nobody wants. You don't want, you don't want a Warriors 3 ongoing.

So Perch doesn't attack him like I would have done. He just kind of rolls with it. He's like, oh, you know, if you got to get a writer on it, and a good artist, and they had a good premise, and the the company supported it, and just didn't cancel it right away, and they promoted it, and they marketed it, that could be pretty good.

It's, but you know what also would also would be good under those conditions? Marvel Comics presents Yo Mama's Coochie. Not any particular person's mom. It's just Yo Mama.

So Yo Mama's Coochie has like a really excellent writer. Benjamin Percy would good. Hey, maybe they can lure Scott Snyder back to Marvel to write Yo Mama's Coochie.

And speaking of going to Marvel, I think for the first time, or for the first major time, I think he did one of those DC Marvel crossovers, but you got what's-his-name? Blanking on his name. He was the most controversial. Sean, Sean Murphy, Sean Gordon Murphy.

So you get Sean Gordon Murphy, and oh, he's not just drawing Yo Mama's Coochie. He's co-plotting it, along with Scott Snyder, because Scott Snyder would still be doing all the absolute things. This would be a special exemption and exception for Yo Mama's Coochie.

So you got Scott's not Scott Scott Snyder on Yo Mama's Coochie. You got Sean Gordon Murphy on Yo Mama's Coochie. You got the, what's the really good? Is it Matt Hollingsworth? I think he works with the, so you got Matt Hollingsworth on Yo Mama's Coochie.

And let's just go old school. You got Tom Orszakowski lettering on Yo Mama's Coochie. So Yo Mama's Coochie has all the publicity.

Everyone wants to know about Yo Mama's Coochie. I mean, a lot of people know about Yo Mama's Coochie already, but more people are willing to find out about Yo Mama's Coochie. And oh my god, this is the stupidest fucking hypothetical in the world.

There's this, there's this meme that says, stop making up hypothetical situations to scare yourself. Like, like, what, what, what is this? What is this? Yes, if a theoretical book had a good creative team and was supported by corporate and marketed and given time to grow. Yes, that would probably be good.

But also it might not be because one of the things I've really grown to despise is not just the sports ball aspect of just making everything a competition. It's like, Zach, you're interested in the Wolverine game, but don't you like the, the, the Wolverine, the X-Men 2, Wolverine origins, whatever? I can like two things. That's kind of, what is the word? Almost said inclement.

That's part of being a fan. You like multiple things. So yeah, I can like, what is this sports ball? But the other thing I hate is that everybody's like a business analyst for companies they don't work for.

Would a hypothetical book with a good team supported by corporate and marketed properly and given a chance to grow. Would that be good? Yes, but also maybe no, because that's not how, that's not how life works. You can't just recreate things that were popular at other times.

Like if, actually I don't even know. Weirdly enough, my views have gone up lately, like doubled or tripled. Now I'm doing less videos, but I've done before where I've kind of done less and then when I came back it was like the same thing, but my theory, well, it might just be an algorithm thing favoring me.

My theory is that me saying the stuff that is so controversial and then everyone eventually just starts parodying. I think it's happening. So me saying, you know, old men who just want to complain about everything.

Everyone's like, they really are old men who just want to complain about everything. but uh, yeah, so would a theoretical book be good if it was theoretically good? Yes, but also maybe no, because you can't just guarantee success. You can't force people to like things, definitely not love things.

I've talked before about, you know, caring is the one thing you can't pay people to do. You also can't bribe people to do it. No matter, and we've seen situations like this where they're like, we got the hottest artist and the hottest writer and everyone's just like, hm.

What about this weird-ass comic over here? That's pretty damn cool. It's like, no, you can't like the weird-ass comic over there. It doesn't have the best writer and the best, and then it's like, I don't know.

It's kind of funny. It's like, when I was going to IT school and we were getting ready to graduate, well, finish. There was no diploma.

It was unaccredited. They said if you meet half the qualifications for a job, just apply. Because that's just like their dream.

You know what I mean? They're just asking for everything, but you know what? Just apply. If you meet half the qualifications. Now, I'm telling you, for women, it's like 25%.

If they say they want all these things, if you meet one of those, just shoot your shot. You have a pretty good chance. Now, the one thing can't be like, they like men and you're a man.

But if it's like one thing, sense of humor, and then like three to ten other things, and the only thing you are is a man who's funny, just shoot your shot. You've got a pretty good chance. But you can't craft success in the arts.

You can set things up for success, but you can't guarantee it. At one point, Perch is talking about Inglourious X-Force becoming Fugitive X-Force. Those are two awkward titles, but it got more awkward with the rebrand.

But I'm still there because I've been really liking this. Is it a series? Is it a mini-series? Nobody knows. Does it have legacy numbering? I guess if it has legacy numbering, it's a series, but I can't say off the top of my head.

But it's good. But then he said something, he goes, X-Force should be one of its top books at Marvel. And I'm like, no, not really.

Not really. It's like trying to set up one of your friends. It's like, oh, you like tall redheads, right? It's like, oh, yeah.

And then you introduce him and there's nothing. And then you see him like a month later and he's with some 300 pound black chick. You're like, and he's happy as a clam.

And she is too. It's like, oh, interesting. I didn't know that.

The competition aspect of monopolizing conversations, but the business analysis for art, which relies on things like charm and charisma and love, falling in love with things. One of the questions I have right now is like, you know, because his letter writers are so terrible. I was like, was Team 7 actually popular or did I just like it? Because it got three miniseries.

It got a crossover with Marvel Team X. You know, they had the Death Blow Wolverine. And then there was there was Gen 12, which is basically like it had a bunch of stuff, but it wasn't popular. I think it was, you know, just kind of like a line drive, you know, like guys who liked military stuff would buy it.

But I don't know, you know, and the thing is, with Team 7, if you would have put, you know, whatever, Alan Moore and was popular, one of the Kubrick's in the 1990s, would that have made it, you know, a top five book? I don't think so. I don't think it ever really had it to be a top five book. It's something I love.

So I don't know. Would a theoretical book with the best creative team and awesome support from corporate theoretically be good? Yes. I don't see this as a worthy conversation.

It's a complete waste of time. But also, there's no guarantee that it would be even if you completely set it up for success. So I think I'm starting to repeat myself and I'm kind of hungry.

So by amazing coincidence, I've run out of things to say. Thanks for watching. Bye.

I am curious as to what people consider good quality in comics on here. I mean it's a well-known fact that quality is a matter of taste, but still doesn't make me any less curious as to what people find good quality on here......Me, I can't stand Hellboy or Spawn, and I honestly don't see how anybody can. I think the Hulk is more Amusing then Spider-Man, and I will die on that Hill if anyone tries to argue with me about that. 😎 I know people on here enjoy Kamen America, but I don't find that interesting either. What I do find funny is people that claim to enjoy them so much I don't see them talk about it on here that much, and when I see here I mean Kiwi Farms in general. I know people like to get it through their heads that people have to talk about something all the time in order to prove their interested in it, but I can use that same logic to the people on here on the things they like too. Just saying......So anyway what do you all consider good quality? I'm all ears.....
I like Transformers comics 🤖

I am curious as to what people consider good quality in comics on here.

I have yet to see anything in the last 10+ years that are good enough to buy, whether that is from Comicsgate or outside of it.

When I think back to comics that I consider good enough to buy, it includes Alan Moore's efforts on Miracleman, V for Vendetta, Swamp Thing, Watchmen.

Frank Miller's original Daredevil run, his Batman Dark Knight series, Batman Year One, and his Daredevil Born Again run.
