#Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

He may yet. Mind Your Business struggled because the "Theosophy" bullshit doesn't really land with a lot of his backers outside that core group of Zacktards who will gobble up anything Ya Boi farts out. The rest of them are waiting for books they were actually interested in to arrive, all while watching Zack pimp the boring "ripped from the headlines" crap he seems to like doing more than the stuff that actually made him money.

Iron Sights 2 and Impossible Stars each had six-figure campaigns (2020's Impossible Stars being the last YBZ campaign to reach the six-figure mark) so you'd figure sequels to those books would gather around that level of support and that a campaign offering both sequels would land somewhere in the $150k-$200k area. However, if you take into account the damage Zack's weird practices and wild shifts in attitude have done to his brand over the last couple of years, coupled with the revelation that he spends $25,000 to produce a single floppy and that his fixed goals are generally his "break even" mark, it kind of changes the definition of what a successful Zack campaign is.

On paper, the follow up to two six-figure campaigns being rolled into one should be highly successful. But seeing that Zack has decided to run it in a 9 day window with his usual lack of promotion and coming off the worst campaign of his career with older books still not delivered, I can't see this being anything more than a middling effort.

Zack may get his $50k by the end of the week but I'm not sure this campaign could be considered a success if it makes less than $100k, which seems unlikely to me.
YBZ does sound better nowadays because he finished JB3 or something.
He is in a very YBZ spot however:
  1. He has a lot of back issues so he can use every new campaign as an oportunity to upsell them.
  2. He can afford to produce the books before crowdfunding
  3. He has enough partners to work on his books.
In other words, YBZ is a traditional small publisher and leaving money on the table by not opening a webstore and hiring a Mexican to send books to whomever buys them and/or persue some limited distribution.
It feels to me like he just enjoys the process of crowdfunding and does crowdfunders because he feels like it instead of doing what is optimal and makes sense

Seeing a whole branch of the Fandom Menace turn to 'simping is good' is more shocking than Cecil failing to organize a blowjob in a brothel, but maybe not much more surprising. Grifting has always been part of TFMs M.O.* and we know what kind of grifting Anna et al are best at. Still, it's got a slightly slimy 'we have always been at war with Eastasia' feel to it.

I bet the simps are happy though.
Watching Chrissy Mayr's "Simpcast" take shape has been fairly interesting; what started as according to Mayr, "an attempt to make something like the View but for based ladies" , a program made by and intended for edgy conservative women eventually took the shape of a program ironic-but-not-really program pandering to lonely sexless men.

The richest source of right wing e-girls appears to be a (now defunct) conservative e-girl mill operated by Rebel Media and Ezra Levant during the MAGA years, described as an entire cottage industry of signing on prospective young models, filling them with talking points and propelling them into the limelight as seemingly independent, appealing mouthpieces to disseminate their ideology, this including Lauren Southern, Brittany Venti, Ashton Birdie and a number of others. Southern and Birdie allege that there was a "right wing casting couch" where women such as themselves or Candace Owens, so on, were, once systematically isolated from normal society and family for being alt-right, then sexually exploited by their employers once they had no recourse. If so, Mayr's offer of being renormalized into society with apolitical content in a "safe environment" of exclusively women would no doubt be very appealing.

However it takes more than e-girls to turn this into a viable enterprise; it takes paypigs to fund and support their idols, and that's where Anna along with a few other Fandom Menace types (as well as Mandy who somehow got herself thrown off) come in with her ready access to both the Fandom Menace and Comicsgate audiences to pump in a rich supply of ideal paypigs.

The Fandom Menace was always especially vulnerable to simps as a symptom of its closed off, carefully cultivated and gatekept e-celeb worship culture. People who would donate hundreds to a 50 year old junkie or Az have no natural defense against someone offering even the slightest whiff of simulated e-vagina. No greater case of this could be presented than when a mentally ill catfish going by GeekyPixie (who was driven out from Weeb Wars by DA Talks incidentally) found fertile new ground in the Fandom Menace; actually climbing the ranks of the TFM hierarchy and collecting scores of simps and hundreds of subscribers armed with nothing more than a bunch of pictures of a filipino child's face swapped over his middle aged man body. The grifter leadership like Jeremy from Geeks and Gamers, Ryan Kinel and Anna exposed him with a PSA that Fandom Menacers should be careful to simp for "verified women".

And with that...

23/05/2022 - JON MALIN - POST KANGZ

A follow up to an unusually short CG Kings show, the stream had Anna introduce Ashton Birdie - a woman who's main claim to fame was of her own free will, having sex with Baked Alaska - but still (arguably) a step up from the grade of herpetic ditchpigs and piss streamers like Witten and Nadine that served as JACK show simp chum before they eventually refused to go on. Shorn of her Levant-provided programming however, Birdie's only discernible personality is "liking Harry Potter". This proves no impediment for her to divert any every subject of conversation to herself.

Art Thibert looked ready to commit suicide after about 20 minutes while the navy veteran Billy Tucci kept a tight-lipped stony grimace before managing to excuse himself from the show like a gentleman. Irene Strychalski inquired about possibly getting on the Simpcast herself, to preach the Comicsgate gospel of course. What ensues next is a terrible struggle as Frog visibly fights to keep his soul from leaving his body at having to listen to the brainnumbing empty prattle of the two bimbos, all to the rapt attention of Kelsey, Jon and Cecil who had an infinite supply of questions about her favorite color, what's her favorite food, what type of boys does she like, so on.

The Buddha teaches us that all suffering serves a purpose though, and so it was in this case after an hour and a half of eternity-seeming conversation as something unprecedented, something never before seen began to happen. Frog's head tilted down towards the drawing board as he actually seems to find the act of making comics a respite and an enjoyable pastime in the face of an alternative.

Truly a Comicsgate miracle.

Sifting through the comments and found this golden nugget:

EDIT: I'm quickly noticing that almost all of the comments echo this sentiment. One of the few times I've seen the comments section this on-the-ball about something.
herpetic ditchpigs
Good Lord. This is going in my book of "All-Time Greatest Insults To Use On Women" right next to "vapid communal fleshlight".
Frog's head tilted down towards the drawing board and actually found into making comics a true respite and escape in the face of the the alternative.
Next he'll start revealing secrets only a comic artist pro would be privy to. Jokes aside, I just want him to go back to 2017-era low-key solo streaming and videos. These people are all dead weight, at first I tolerated them but eventually I found myself watching Frog's streams in spite of them. Now I don't even watch Frogs streams.
You're not seeing his actual personality anymore, you're seeing an amalgamated caricature designed to juggle all the broken personas he's surrounded himself with. There's a reason his IQ seems 50 points higher here than on youtube. It's all so very tiresome.

One of your best posts ever IMO.

I almost thought that was an original creative idea for a moment. Then I remembered Rick and Morty kinda did this already.
The "space whale" thing has been done a few times in Star Trek, notably in a TNG episode where the Enterprise had to perform a C-section on a space creature (which behaved like a whale but looked more like some kind of pierogi) whose offspring threatened to destroy the ship.

space whale
Weather it's hyping the wrong audience for the initial release of No Man's Sky, ruining Gundam's carefully crafted humans-only sci-fi setting, nearly outspending the budget of Empire Strikes Back or threatening to delay Star Citizen's release for another ten years, you can always count on space whales to materialize amongst the death throws of any creative endeavor. They're a blight on all that is fictitious.

Looks like the Comic Book Hut has launched a project on Kickstarter about the abortion of a space whale's fetus.

Goal of 10k? Comic Book Hut better improve his art more.

The scrotum whale was unveiled to CG on March 7th 2022.
Wow! Your art has way improved

This makes two cosmic space whales in CG, the other being Leem's Cosmic space whale. What's next? Moby dick? Shamu? Free willy? The exploding whale?

True. This all sounds like a knockoff FNT with more boomer energy and also more autistic Georges

Remember when @Smug Freiza used to update the thread with a list of CG campaigns in danger of not being funded? This wouldn't be out of place on one of those lists. Like Dragoon Knight Aldrake and Hexwood, you've got a creator delusional enough to believe anyone would pay $20 in real money for comics so poorly drawn that the story doesn't even matter.

If that's how much Hut's art has "improved", it must have been totally shithouse before.

The only way we could get a definite answer on the allegations of human trafficking and sexual extortion going on in Rebel Media being tossed about is if we had access to a neutral party who happened to involved with them at around the same time, in the same capacity, perhaps from an even higher position than Lauren Southern or whoever else. @TheAlchemist in other words.

@Mister Dongs I think, just this once, I wish you didn't have all these terrible things to tell us. But you do tell them very well.

People who would donate hundreds to a 50 year old junkie or Az have no natural defense against someone offering even the slightest whiff of simulated e-vagina.

:story:

Az. Az! Father forgive me for watching Nerdrotic streams, but in a couple of recent ones he's been whining about how to make money now that the CW cut the cord on his Batwoman reviews. I sit there in shock, thinking 'people give this pasty potato enough money for him to talk like it's how he makes his living?' Swiftly followed by 'they barely try to hide the grift anymore'.

What ensues next is a terrible struggle as Frog visibly fights to keep his soul from leaving his body at having to listen to the brainnumbing empty prattle of the two bimbos

WTF I feel sorry for Ethan now.

@9th legion centurion 002 Shit, I was right.

10,000 dollars!? There is now way in hell he makes that goal. Especially, with all the bridges he has burned. The only people he can appeal to are his small ass fan base that frequents his channel.
Should be interesting to watch as the campaign gets closer and closer to closing and he sees that no one wants to buy his badly traced comic.

But it's gonna come out on time. Like a professional.

Interesting. At first glance his plot synopsis comes off as pure unmitigated insanity:

"In CAPTAIN GALAXY: IN THE DAWNING,Captain Galaxy and his daughters Dina and LaMara arrive from the planet Annwfn to stop this "blessed event". Their obstacle is the Formorii sea-prince Manannan Mac Lir who has somehow found a way to control the creature."

Upon further investigation I'm realizing most of this is based on Celtic folklore. Annwfn is basically the supernatural realm in Welsh mythology, Manannan Mac Lir is an Irish sea god who rules this realm, and Fomorians are essentially subaquatic ogres that appear in Irish legends.
It's actually a fairly unique premise to base a setting around, certainly more fresh than the endless deluge of Norse-inspired fiction throughout the past decade. Shame it's being presented by a sentient air-processor who will likely cheapen any inherent cool factor it may have had.

Did Hut doxx himself on his campaign, or am I seeing things?

That's too bad.
