Maybe I missed something, but didn't Frog receive a special thanks in ZSJL? Why is he suddenly against it now? Does the G+G controversy had something to do with it?
I've been against the Snyderverse since I still worked at DC Comics.

Although I'm happy with the idea of fans demanding a corporation deliver the content that they want and winning, Zack Snyder went out of his way to piss all over half of his autistic nerd army with that Geeks and Gamers charity event. So there's no real joy in Mudville there.

But before all of that, the Snyderverse itself is ugly and cynical and doesn't represent those characters in a fun way, imo. Warner Bros was correct to axe it.

Plus, there's Amber Heard, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.

is there a reading list for CG? I was a big comics reader until Image and Marvel went to shit after 2016. Any recommendations?
The last good Western comic I read was probably the 1st The Batman Who Laughs arc (they later brought him back somehow, last time I checked) & later that was some What-If which started good, but turned to shit at it's end called Spider-Man: The Spider’s Shadow.

Following his interview on Critical Drinker, Mark Millar has an interview with Perch, a mostly dry affair where the two go over his career, nostalgically musing over better days when even shit Millar cranked out about Aunt May losing her virginity could sell 80,000 issues, and generally engage in mutual fart huffing about how cancel culture will just naturally go away because of "the pendulum of history swinging away" or something and western comics are due for a surge where they'll be bigger than ever. It's a very intelligent conversation to be sure, when out of a generic Perch "I hate twitter" ramble, Mark Millar starts shouting out Eric July and his making $3,000,000 out of nowhere, lauding him as a good guy and a force for positivity who has said nothing negative about anybody or anything, ever.

Perch, finding himself in a controversial topic despite his utmost efforts to keep the interview as grounded in pedestrial conversation as possible, mumbles something along any sort of bias against Eric July can be accounted "jealousy", the inference that there could possibly be a political motive against Rippa being against message on Perch's self-serving creed.

It really depends what you are into and how long you are willing to wait for it. If you want something now, I would recommend Matt Crott's Kyrie books Here. If you want to wait an unknown amount of time(could be a month, could be 3 years) then check out the #comicsgate on Twitter.

an interview with Perch, a mostly dry affair

You do surprise me.

Insert generic grumble about Perch being a bigger fence sitter than Tim Pool here. The wildest thing about his channel is his optimism that mainstream western comics will rise like a phoenix from the ashes, and he's terrified of pissing off anyone remaining in it just in case he gets what he wishes for. And outside of it, in case he doesn't.

It's funny to imagine his strict middle of the road, don't-even-glance-left-or-right approach being upset by the see-sawing of a guest that he probably figured for a known quantity.

Edit: MATI time. 🎩

'A hit with readers'. NOBODY'S READ IT YET.

There’s a wide range of stuff for a lot of different tastes.

Groken by Rocafort was great. Six Gun Gorilla by Brian Christgau is slept on, and good. PTP’s Ultra Star delivers. Chenoo by Graham Nolan is good, and his Alien Alamo is a solid five stars. Renie’s Fiendish was slight but enjoyable D&D fantasy. If you’ve ever wanted to know what happens when you hand a shojo manga script to a Top Cow style artist, Starlight Cats is a must read. I’ll defend it with no apologies.

Pete Simeti’s Alternacomics gets a lot of quality stuff into shops from guys who likewise crowdfund, so browsing through Alterna back issues can give you a good lay of the land without having to blindly preorder from someone.

You would think he would have found an alternative after they fucked him over the first time. Seriously why do some many people still rely on Paypal and even Patreon despite countless examples of them screwing certain people over on their side.
His video is bullshit. He needs to ship the books to get the funds released. Its just the PayPal pre-selling policy.

I still remember when the Martha meme circulated and Snyderverse was (rightfully so, IMO) ridiculed for being a 13-year old's tryhard efforts to be "edgy" and "dark". There was a suspiciously abrupt pivot to Synderverse being all that is good and holy later on, coinciding with the whole release the Synder cut uproar.

Snyder fans only are a special breed, completely convinced that he is the greatest director-writer-everything in the last five generations, and they also somehow find a way to swarm any Snyder-negative videos or event comment with angry rebuttals. But the turnaround is really sus, and I'm half-convinced the Rolling Stone expose has some truth to this whole Snydergod hype being paid marketing. Even if it's, you know, the Rolling Stone.

YBZ's premiere property being given away for $1 is down money compared to @FROG 's 2nd chance campaign for a comic book thats taken 2 or 3 years to draw, and it hasnt' even closed yet - the final numbers will be more humiliating. There's nothing you can say to YBZ to make him see sense. Like an SJW, even a loss is a reason to celebrate an imaginary victory.

that’s a pretty expensive lesson for him to learn.
He's going to get his money, he's just going to have to wait some months for the product to ship. He's got enough from the other payment processors to run the campaign and get his money from paypal.

I know users will disagree with me here, but there are a few if you are looking for the most SIGNIFICANT entries surrounding ComicsGate:
If anything, Richard Meyer is offering the previous entries of Jawbreakers as perks for the latest one on IndieGoGo:
If You Are Having Trouble Finding The ADD-ONS...

Hi Everyone,
Although the process is working smoothly for most Backers, some people are having trouble finding the Add-Ons when they are ordering JAWBREAKERS FOREVER on their phone. With limited real estate on a cellphone screen, it can be easy to confuse the Add-Ons as ads for other IGG campaigns. But if you scroll to the right, it will show you all of the Add-Ons (it's a lot easier to see all of the Add-Ons at once if you view the IGG campaign page on a tablet).
If you completed your Check Out and you realized that you missed the chance to get the Add-Ons, you can just refund your own purchase and then start again and get the Add-Ons that you want.
Thanks,
Richard
I'd pick up Lost Souls just for its purpose as being the center of Meyer v. Waid.
I guess picking up a copy of CyberFrog: Blood Honey would be next (if @FROG is still offering copies). Whether you want to check out the other CyberFrog books, that's up to you.
Not sure if Doug TenNapel's Earthworm Jim books can still be found (or if he is offering them still), but they have the best format and presentation out of them all.
Picking up the Kamen America omnibus would be good.
Then, of course, @YoungRippa59's Isom #1.
Though not CG-related, I'd pick up Keanu Reeves' BRZRKR.
Quality may vary, but if you are looking for them books that moved the needle then that's the ones that came to mind.

The idea behind crowdfunding is to raise as much capital as possible to make lots of product. If you're making the same amount of money but having to ship to four times as many backers, you're screwing up.

Backers aren't customers. They're investors or producers. You want to incentivize them to give you lots of money to make product to later sell to customers for profit.

Loss leaders in crowdfunding makes zero sense. If you can raise the same money and have to ship to fewer backers, that's an ideal situation. The customers will come later.

Recently, we promised a free copy of an ashcan with every eBay order, and we had our biggest sales day ever. Sales. Of existing product. To customers.

Even though it's annoying for Eric July to have to wrestle with PayPal, ultimately, it's another reason to talk about the campaign and win over the sympathy of backers. His video on the topic had close to 100K views. Lots of eyes. Lots of new backers.

He wins no matter what.

You're right, backers aren't customers, they're way more important! The minute you treat them any less and fail to deliver a perk, which believe it or not isn't a flimsy pinky swear just because you can't be taken to court over it, you will be known as exactly the POS grifter you are. What else can you expect when you take advantage of the good faith those investors had and the overall risk the investors took onto themselves in supporting your project? If there is any justice for creators who take advantage of their investors like that as if they were paying to be your emotional support or some bullshit, those same creators won't have much of a career to speak of going forward with enough infamy to dog them into any notoriety they manage to gain. Donal qualifies, Cecil qualifies and your assterisk* is getting bigger by the moment.

For Frogs like yourself, it's a much slower burn. You can still make bank on your former glory while retreating into nothingness. People can still expect something to come through the mail eventually, but whether an IP with less originality than TMNT or Battletoads, less personality than a Howard the Duck or a Rocket Raccoon or a even a Roger Rabbit will warrant increasing expenditures of >$50 to be a part of without actually providing any important social commentary other than "buy my shit" has yet to be seen. Whatever the number, that will be one well-shorn flock of sheeple fit for the record books.

*Pun intended
