WCB'ers never snaked there friends, they went to school together started a you tube chan got really big for a minute then got really small, but they are still real people real friends in real life and don't depend on internet grifting to support there familly ...... they have real jobs imagine that! lol

Yeah, they were all people who had a real life connection, so the experience was genuine. It's just that after a year or so it became boring.

It also doesn't help that Jeff started putting out long ass videos where he's basically reading another article verbatim, and the only original content is the five minutes he spends begging you to subscribe to their channel and join their Patreon.

I ain't going to pretend to watch them any more either, but I check in on them every 6 months or so and they still have the same real vibe they had 8 years ago .....

To Be As Fair As Wikipedia: Officially, Muniz's problems stem from "migraine auras" (still transient iscemic attacks, i.e. mini-strokes) and multiple concussions, aka, Traumatic Brain Injuries. He's still better looking.

I really enjoyed the crossover stream they did years ago with Razorfist and Retroblasting. In fact, I think that stream may have been what made me fully aware of Retroblasting's channel, which has generally put out pretty good stuff.
 
All of this just reminds me that there was never a unifying vision for this movement.
Chalk it up to whatever you like, but this is the price paid for no clear destination and living life pedal to the metal.

I don't blame them for this though. In life you must do things you do not like doing, being a Youtuber doesn't automatically guarantee total free control of your lifestyle. You absolutely can make videos about a singular topic, there's a gorillion channels out there that do that. But a lot of 'tuber folk aren't 1 track thinkers, and so commentating on the popular topics of popular culture becomes what the channels they create are defined by.
What the FNT Friendtubers create is no different than what the early days of MTV were doing between music video marathons, no different than what G4TV did between sketchy programming, and no different than what major news networks do after 11PM on the weekends. (EX: Fox News Redeye)
I understand that people see through the efforts of Youtubers like Gary and others; but what were we expecting? Even Pewdiepie pretended to care about things he truly didn't. Perhaps we can recognize that the error in the way these guys go about their business; rests more on their lack of accountability, than their frequent shifts in obsessions.

tl;dr - ADHDtubers go brrrrrrr and that's okay.

Most YouTubers who end up making it their career turn into grifters over time, even if they started out genuine.
Nobody likes doing what Susan demands or the fans demand for ever.

And people rarely considered how brainwashed content creators themselves get by YouTube.
They read the comments and it's all filtered and sorted by some background AI that is designed to get people to think and feel a certain way. Even if they know about the shadow banning the comments are still the feedback they get so it becomes their reality.

It makes me happy knowing that people like the EFAP faggots are now stuck in a loop of creating multi-hour streams about the newest garbage consoomer movie or game for eternity.

The griftosphere is really the perfect name for all these culture/media commentary people.

I count EVS as part of that same sphere. He can't claim to be an outsider because he actually does comics, since he doesn't do comics but spends his time media commentating just like the rest of the griftosphere.

The best person to follow among these people is Vara Dark because all I have to do to be informed is read her titles, and if that doesn't tell me enough, she usually gives it away in the first minute.
Best of them all because she doesn't waste my time.

This is especially true for streamers.

I think people who do topical short-form pre-recorded videos on mostly non controversial topics tend to have much better long-term success than streamers.

I think the issue is having to respond in real time to an audience, and the desire to chase superchats.
