He might be the best cartoonist alive as far as technique goes.
I'm not buying that.

Give the devil his due. Ethan is great at what he does when he does it. He might be the best cartoonist alive as far as technique goes. The problem with his art is that it's soulless. He has no vision. He can't create anything new or inspired. Art that's great in technique but soulless can be made by computers now. If you can be replaced by ai you have a real problem going forward.
Cyberfrog could have really been a thing if EVS would have hired a good, seasoned writer. But there was more ego gratification for EVS to imagine he was a good enough writer to write it himself. Just because you're good at drawing, doesn't make you good at writing.

Self-publication is great, but it also has its downsides. When you don't have competent editorial oversite to provide constructive, necessary criticism and overall quality control, you end up with a lot of middling projects that could have been a lot better.

still can't actually figure out why some Kiwis, even tenured and more older kiwis were advocating that July is a lolcow.... I mean, why?
its like my IQ drops by 20 points trying to figure out why. I mean have your standards for lolcow have become so low that even someone that runs a business have to be declared a lolcow because they can't handle criticism? or like cant handle being trolled? my dude, if you think thats the case, you are terminally online and is more of a lolcow than July.

or they are probably stealth batting for the diddler dax and the crew

I think a lot of it early on was driven by people that didn't like the guy and possibly Dick supporters. But in the beginning, Eric was engaging with Dick and he didn't come off great (at first at least) with Rekieta after Riley went to the warehouse. I think Eric came on too mad and possibly didn't realize instead of two acquaintances/colleagues talking about Dick it instead was Rekieta doing his lawyer thing and basically defending Dick/Riley (I believe Riley would later be the videographer for Rekieta's comedy set so no conflict of interest there). After that there was some back and forth between Eric and Rekieta (non-practicing lawyer). Then shortly after that. EVS decided to go scorched earth on Eric which caused a lot of people in CG that were singing Eric's praises one moment to do a complete 180. So Eric was heavily on the defense. A lot of this took place over a short period of time (3-6 months).

There was also the Eric can't take criticism thing. Which is true I guess. I didn't have a Twitter account then so couldn't see exactly how he was interacting with people there. But I do recall some videos where he went on about it. At the same time, a lot may have been Masterson's critique. I can't recall if this was before or after it came out that Masterson didn't read the book though. In any event, perhaps a lot of it was from Dick and possibly his followers going after him. But was the criticism thing as bad as people are making it out to be? Particularly since he was getting attacked by a lot of sides at that point? I don't know. But even now, a lot of the criticism seems to more be nitpicks than issues with the books themselves.

I guess people here were thinking the Dick/Rekieta/EVS/criticism thing was going to make Eric unhinged/lolcow. But by the end of the year...Either Eric, his wife, G&G/FNT, employees, all of the above basically made him realize he just needs to push books and stop interacting with these idiots. And for the most part he has. He might occasionally make a jab or mention someone. Possibly by name. But it's nowhere to the same degree as last year. I suppose you could say he's doing it by proxy though (Yellow Flash, Kino Casino, etc.). But the just pushing books aspect has the added benefit of him not accidentally attacking fans of Rippaverse/CG comics while going after the CG comic creators. Whereas, a lot of people in CG doesn't seem to want to believe there are people that read both CG comics and Rippaverse comics.

This is how I sort of remember it though. I could be off in a few areas and remembering things wrong.

That is because he's lazy and deluded. If you read any of his Green Lantern stuff, you'd know what he's capable of.
He is best when paired with someone else. I enjoyed his run with Fury of Firestorm in New 52, but I dare say Heather Antos did a lot of the heavy lifting looking at his current "condition"

Which circles back to EVS should of bent the knee and worked for EJ, someone to give him deadlines and make sure he met them, give him the direction he clearly needs to be productive.

LMAO, I died. I had no idea his seething about Yanzi's reaction was a multiple day ordeal, this is what thick skin looks like.
Did you find that original stream? I was looking at his channel and nothing rang a bell, I assumed he had removed it.
Not a chance he would ever leave that up, but a few clips off of a stooges channel.

ComicsGate Is ComicsGreat (Is ComicsLate)

You know, I’d almost forgotten what a fucking monumental window-licker you actually are. Thank you for the adroit reminder.

Am I right in saying you were the Comicsgater who fulfilled his campaign by delivering comics to your customers sealed inside freezer/food bags, in lieu of proper mylar bags and boards?
No that was a false narrative. I used very nice water proof craft bags that were more expensive than the standard bags but because they have a zip lock style enclosure people were saying they were zip lock bags I bought at Walmart. When People complained I gave refunds to anyone that wanted one and started using the craft bags with the standard bags inside.

weird request, do you have pictures of the bags in question, or a brand name? I've never heard of these types of bags, and morbid curiosity now has me wanting to see them.

Your mistake was not advertising the premium ziplock baggies as added value from the start instead of leaving it to be a surprise!

EVS is not good. His style is not only extremely outdated but he hasnt gotten any better since the 90s. Rob Liefeld is actually better than him now. Thats how bad EVS actually is.
