This is the crux of the issue and where I am with YBZ. Someone 50 or 100 pages ago floated the notion that there is an Anti-Anti-SJW movement a brewin', and just you watch, Zack is just the guy who could bring it together. And if you squint (and put on a blindfold, and put your head in the dirt, and hum the X-Men theme) you can just about see how Zack could kick off this movement and people would follow him. After all, Zack did it once before!

The difference is that in 2017, Zack and his prospective audience had aligned purposes (both wanted the established superheroes to stop being made black and gay. Zack, because he still read the crap unironically; his audience, because they were tired of being trolled in the media about their ruined childhood three times a week). His audience was happy to hear someone vigorously air their shared concerns.

But his audience's problems with grift-adjacent YTers are not the same as Zack's. People are annoyed that the right side of the cultural conversation is being dominated by lazy morons chewing up their audience's political opinions and spitting it back into their heads with absolutely no effort past "here are the words that will get you to click this, here is the topic that will provoke superberries, hey look it's the same as it was in 2021, guys I think Kathleen Kennedy is really in for it this time."

But while Zack (and others) have criticized the scene in passing in recent years, the poor content is not what has driven Zack into the woods in 2024. No, Zack's object in his (maybe literal) one-man crusade is that...SJW content isn't really that bad. As long as it's not in comics. And these nerdslop shows are good. Even though the entire meandering, pause-filled, "Netflix show" supergenre had thoroughly jumped the shark with left-wing critics even before covid started. And if you really think about it, these execrable wastes of time are our culture. As long as there are dudes punching guys, that's popular culture for real Americans, like it was in the 90s, even if some of those dudes are now black women with shaved heads and nobody ever notices that anyone else is a member of the opposite sex.

At this point I don't get why he doesn't just go full SJW and apologize to Heather and company. Getting to work on a real comic book with the they/them pros he obviously secretly admires is apparently his ultimate dream, so just commit already damn. Honestly IDW editor is undoubtedly not Heather Antos' dream job, and I don't think it would be Zack's either since they lost the GI Joe license.

And she probably won't have the job for much longer. IDW is on the verge of folding, and they've lost almost all of their big titles except TMNT. They kept Star Trek because no one else wanted it.

Ignoring the fact I put "dream job" in quotes, she's still in the industry he wishes he could put his foot in the door for. Regardless how much she's fallen she's still in there, and Zack wakes up worried that the grifters said something mean about Furiosa again.

That Umbrella Guy TUG has a whole playlist of videos from 2018 about how IDW is going out of business. Checking the date.. yeah 2024 and still in business. To be fair to CG and FNT, Kathleen Kennedy and IDW are fucking cockroaches. Any head of studio that was not a woman in Wokewood would have been fired by now. Rise of Skywalker, Solo, Dial of Destiny and 2/3rds of her Disney+ series either underperformed or outright flopped. And each of those flops came with an gigantic budget. Anyone who lost their studio this amount of money would be fired. As for IDW, either it is financed by some friend of theirs or the bosses are selling property. They have been in the red for a while. They have lost almost all their I.P.s. Some serious funny money must be going on in both cases.

I'm not saying that because I like Kennedy or IDW. Some things that can be taken as news on youtube are more like magical thinking. Self declared experts like TUG or Doomcock (really just masked schizos) think they can effect the outcome by making content repeatedly that says this is going to happen.
