I have a theory, Zack watches these movies, and NOW he's even more determined to prove the grifters wrong...

So he just writes the movie/show for the people. Which, almost always happens in a lot of movies, but the problem is that it'll differ from person to person. It also doesn't do the actual work of writing your script well. So when Drinker or Nerdrotic say they didn't get why something/someone did something, he in his brain has already written what's happened to make up for the lack of writing. But doesn't realize that it's not the same as saying "they didn't watch the movie that's why they didn't get it!" that he's ranting about.

Zack, here's some content ideas for you. Instead of sperging like a faggot taking pot shots at people who barely care about you, why not produce a video explaining with examples FROM THE WRITING what people missed from the product which makes it actually really good.

For the love of GOD please explain how Borderlands, The Crow, Ahsoka, Acolyte are actually secretly brilliantly written. PLEASE

Oh, he's going to be way too busy for that. He's got to type a bunch of queries into midjourney, and then trace over 30 pages worth of them. All for those sweet, sweet nickels.

You'll just be able to say "computer: edit footage of Alien Romulus to remove all of the diverse characters and replace them with white men. Anybody that's been using AI art generators like Midjourney these past few years knows that they don't improve exponentially or even linearly. The have huge roadblocks with context (because AI doesn't really understand what the forms represent). Asking AI to generate something as simple as "give me a picture of He-Man punching Skeletor" is bound to be disappointed with the result.

Yes, Zack thinks AI can create good movies from prompts because he doesn't understand stuff like cinematography, lighting, scores and all the other things that go into making a good movie. Well, I imagine it's the same with comic books. I guess we'll find out when AI Art Tracing: The Comic Book comes out.

Obviously, his campaigns aren't good enough to hire decent artists anymore, but he was always going to cut the artists as soon as he thought midjourney was good enough to replace them.

There was this post (hat tip Mr Processor) where he tried to do that, and...it basically read like someone rewriting the movie in their head:


While making the 50-point headline charge that the one of the Internet's five most watched film critics doesn't watch movies - a charge that the critic is certain to read because he was your business partner until a few weeks ago - your list of proofs is basically a bunch of rationalizations you made to keep the tone and characters consistent in your head, whereas Critical Drinker did not find the movie interesting enough to grant it any generous assumptions. Possibly because he doesn't live in America and doesn't care if our national survival depends on coming together to like dumb crap again.

So instead of digesting your arguments and criticisms of TCD's critical faculties, people's takeaway is going to be "this crazy fucker is accusing people of not watching the movies they're reviewing!" I'd be first to sperg about how tired the Drinker has gotten the last couple of years, but not watching the movies he's reviewing? The guy doesn't do anything else. His videos are 60 seconds of promo roll on a loop with increasingly fossilized meme clips thrown in. He writes novels at an apparent rate of 1 every 5 years. He livestreams what, twice a week? And clearly he's not using his brain to do that. Not everyone needs 6 hours to edit a 20 minute video, pawing at their technology like an old dachshund after losing two attempts because they forgot to hit Record.

I mean, Zack, re-read your gotcha list again and consider how much more work it would be to research those plot points to get them wrong than it would be to just watch the movie. Or the likelihood that any financially successful critic would risk so much to dub a film his "Worst Movie of the Year" if he hadn't seen it.

Also, Zack's description of the movie unironically made it sound worse to me than the Drinker's description. Yes, they both made the movie sound bad, but everything Zack told me about it made it sound even more terrible. Like all this nonsensical added lore about angels and Hell, and all that. The original movie gives you one line about crows bringing back the souls of the dead and that's it. Zack made it sound like a Spawn knockoff (ironically, Zack did a rewrite of Spawn where he removed the whole Army of the Damned aspect from it and made it some aliens instead, so why did he like the new Crow movie?)

I've never seen any evidence that Dick Masterson has ever said anything funny. It's crazy. He's been podcasting forever and as far as I can tell he's never made a funny joke.

Hal Jordan has always been portrayed as the idiot that acts before he thinks. Smarter than Guy but more impulsive than John. He is never the grizzled wise old man.

Wow, this is 12 years old already... there were a few animated portrayals of Hal Jordan where he was portrayed as young and fit (and around the same age as John Stewart.)

Would you like to see something really cringey? He's explaining how he's going to copy comic book characters from the mainstream industry so he doesn't get in trouble.


It always ends up being some version of Sonichu in the end. Zack even has original characters, he just doesn't have any faith in them. He has to figure out how to nudge, nudge, wink, wink his way into making comics using the Big Two characters.

I'd wager that early 90s Hal Jordan Green Lantern with greying temples was Zack's intro to the character and muh berries is the definitive version just as his teenage memories of comic book reading is all the genre's history that matters.

Yeah. He saw the endless CG drama as unsustainable crap and wanted to stop dealing with it and make his comics. It pissed Ethan off to no end, who then started attacking him like he does everyone else who sells comics, gets them done, and does a good job (Sweetcast's comics are actually some of the best of CG's stuff).

He dipped below that level and continued to make comics with a lesser audience, quietly ignored Ethan, and Ethan eventually lost interest in him. His backing is about 1/3 of what it was because mostly Ethan's audience bought it the whole time, and he never had his own promotional outlet to grow his own following.

Like I said before I think he's just sick of all the "negativity" and pessimism in entertainment, yet some how it's okay if he does it to mainstream comics.
Zach you made your WHOLE youtube channel career off of hating things.
You're not the internet's mom saying, "If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all." And nothing is ever going to get better by shutting up and not criticizing garbage ass media. Hollywood and gaming are trying to feed us shit on a plate here, but we got Mr. Zach at the table eating up that shit, and complaining that everyone else is being mean about the smell, and not eating with him. "Come on guys, just give them money and watch it."

Don't like it, then don't engaged with it. The "don't recommend this channel" option is there on your recommended feed, just use it faggot.
