To be fair, most of these guys can do great work on time. EVS for example finished Flash: Rebirth in 8-9 months, and that was 180+ pages. But these days he spends most of his time on 3-6 hour livestreams half heartedly shilling, and then more hours signing, packing, and mailing items with his wife and son for E-bay buyers. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual comic production is relatively a side project by now. Most CG guys are also stuck on a similar schedule.
Some high quality creatives do have the talent for both business management and making their comics, like Todd Mcfarlane, but this is extremely rare. People like EVS can't really handle it and already seem burnt out. Remember a few years ago with EVS livestreams were high energy shows where he would wear costumes, do skits, sing with a piano? Now he just sits, hunched over a screen, mumbling "Rippa bad....buy book...Rippa bad...zack good". He was meant to work under a smarter guy, or atleast delegate everything but the artwork and writing to a manager and just make a guest appearance from time to time.
