I used to use PreserveTube on Richard's videos because I didn't want to give him Rage Bait views. Now, though it's essential because he might randomly delete them.

He's decided to start using comics tiktokkers as the virtuous comics channels, as opposed to the not-comics-channels-but-he-pretends-they-are pop culture channels he usually complains about which are "the bad guys."
Yes, because if we know anything about TIKTOK it's has the ability to get people into complete ideas and stories.

I don't watch TikTok but I have seen some YouTube shorts(basically the same thing), in comics it's stuff like "the time captin potato salad married the villain, got her pregnant and lived a happy life, it was fake lol" no real comics fans are being created by that, or it's fake fans indulging in a comics esthetic instead of actually READING THE FUCKING THING! Hardly mat with 4 ts.

Well, it's kind of like when he says Marvel Rivals is getting people younger than him into comics. I just don't think that's especially true.

Again because so many comics readers were brought in by the MCU. I literally would've been that person but then you go on YouTube and you find out everyone is gay and retarded. I had to buy early comicsgate books and some Omnibus books. Point being nobody is getting into comics through TikTok.

The market iself isn't ready to deal with creators being anything other than that guy that made the thing I liked when I was 14.
That's a rough ride for most consumers who are used to their fluffy romanticized version of Rob Liefeld and Gale Simone. Come to find out they're not the high minded philosophers they're presented as in promotional media---and instead they're boobish.
I do believe that exposure to the creator does a lot to kill the momentum of a product. But there's no way to promote the product without engaging with a market space in more than "buy my stuff" snippets between drama farming sessions.

Everybody into comics eventually Google searches their favorite guy that did the thing with the stuff that one time. However, they often find that guy has said "Screw you, particularly! Nazi! Bigot!" annnd well, that stains the characters. Can anyone look at Batman these days without remembering Catwoman cucking him and making him cry?

Comicsgate has a similar hurtle, whoever is swimming in that end of the Indie Hell public swimming pool finds themselves marinating in the piss drenched waters of the Comicsgate Kings.

Exactly, people who are watching tik tok/yt shorts brainrot don't even have one minute attention span. If you promote there you better fuckin have a link to read the comic right then. Nobody is waiting 3 years for your shit Richard/Comicsgate.

Happy Birthday Merica! I bring you only the most retarded comicsgate has to offer. This is the type of quality creators the era of Katy Did and Vito's Comicsgate pull.

GrumpyOldNinja.

This guy is in the black weeb coomer autism tier list somewhere with Fizzchozo, Monostar Leatherknuckles, and Vahn Dragon from the Stand with Vic community.

Did Evan actually endorse this?

You're very correct. It's the classic Michael Jordan playing baseball situation. These guys are known for having drawn something good in the past, but rather than drawing they want to veer off into a medium where they lack the intelligence, the personality, and certainly the work ethic to attract more than a few hundred parasocial sycophants.

Every day in CG is like checking in with Billie Eilish to get her take on the Gaza situation.

He says #HailComicsgate so I must assume he is associated with Evan and his trademark. The guy hangs around Liam too yet is a TSWG Anna simp, I guess nobody told him they hate each other.

im admittedly new to this rabbithole (though I am enjoying every second of it) so please forgive me if this is a retarded question... but what's stopping these assholes from just making a comic and THEN selling it? Why must they e-beg for everything up front only to never deliver? It seems like they'd get a lot less shit if they did it the other way around. is this just some industry thing that i'm not familiar with?

That's the rub my friend. It's a grift. There is no comic.

Themselves.

One of the things they discovered since the very first CG books is that finishing and delivering a book is a process that requires discipline. Most of the main CG members are simply too goofy to work through a schedule and those that do deliver their books on time are furiously frowned upon by the ones that don't because it exposes them as fuck-ups or swindlers or both.

Also a lot of them need the money upfront because thay have no cash to risk in case their 500 book edition sells only 120 book, so crowdfunding at least in theory gives them the chance to know exactkly how many books they have to make to fulfill. The problem here circles back to discipline; once they get the money, they tend to spend it on anything but producing the books.

As a creator myself, I can tell you that it takes a while to get a 24 page book's line art prepared. Regardless of the artist you're working with, it's at best two pages a week (if you're not just doing splashes and spreads), and at worst a page a month. Sometimes that's budget, sometimes that's just what a guy with a full time job can pull off between working hours.
All that is to say this: The majority of NuComicsgate creators do not have a longterm vision. Their creations are born out of a moment of inspiration, and barely grow beyond that point.
Example: Godlike
Jon Malin ate a whole weed brownie and passed out on the floor of his streaming/art room. He woke up to piss and drink, had a weed fueled vision and drew 3 and a half pages before passing out again. He woke up sober sometime later, and could never piece the story of Godlike together again.
They have nothing, even these "I pitched this idea to DC 40 years ago and they told me it was trash! Now you get to pay premium rates for it!" concepts are all just asspulls.

They can't develop the idea into maturity to even present the line art for a 24 page book before asking for money. They can't even get beyond a fuzzy vision of a weed fueled out of body experience. (When you eat weed rather than smoke it, it metabolizes into a chemical called 11-hydroxy-THC which shares similarities with psychedelics like LSD.)

Throw a dart at a NuCG Indiegogo comic listing and more than likely that comic concept was born 8 days ago and the main character doesn't even have a name (see: Godlike).

I just want Zack to make his "THIS is the BEST comic on the STANDS" video. It's got to be in the works, right? I simply must know what constitutes a good comic to Richard "Snowball" Meyer in 2025. He wouldn't just proclaim "comics are good now, ackshually" if he didn't have at least one in mind, would he?
Wasn't he saying a few months ago randomly that that one Rogue comic was good and all the pop culture channels were bad because they weren't talking about it?

That's what Rippaverse comics do apparently, they get it mostly done and then crowdfund and fulfill shortly after.

But the money was just too easy in the early days throwing up a concept and then collecting without having to actually have a product. This of course led to extreme laziness with creators that were prone to be lazy in the first place - there was nothing lighting a fire under their ass because they weren't going to get any more funds for delivering. This was of course short sighted and now comicsgate is pretty much a dead brand as customers have largely disappeared minus some of Ethan's more hardcore simps.

I don't think this has really been touched upon, but taking down that many videos is poisonous for you channel. Meyer deleted nearly 60 millions views from his channel and no YouTube rep would have actually told him to do this which he SHOULD have had access to if he didn't suddenly lose them after sinking below 100k subscribers

It turns out Zack's brilliant master plan was actually stupid? I'm surprised, he usually makes such sane and sensible decisions. It will be funny if he realizes his error and decides to unprivate all those old videos and then nothing improves even then.

Yes, Rogue the Savage Land and later Absolute Batman. The problem is these comics were being pushed other places too, so for them he just looked like he was on the hype train. Most of the pop-culture channels he goes after are not primarily comics channels, so it's not surprising that they aren't talking about the latest comics being hyped.

Zack should delete the top 100 videos too, wouldn't want the new folks to be too confused, especially since the man in those videos sounds like he drastically disagrees with the current guy running the channel.

In the time you waited you could have learned to draw. Or written a book the kind without pictures.

He should quit. But at least send people the shit they bought from him first.
