I don't lurk the thread like I used to, but I have been bookmarking things lately because I sensed shit was gonna get profoundly retarded. I didn't expect a lolsuit arc, though. Uncle E surprised me with that one. You would think he, of all people, would try to avoid getting involved with lawsuits as much as possible considering CG history.

I have been wondering if the Roblox and payment processor drama will snuff out CG's reach once and for all.
The drama cycle in CG has slowed to a crawl now because all that's left for them to pound their fists about are the "Dungeoneers" and Eric July.
So the waaaaay higher stakes drama with "BAN ALL PORN" vs "That's My Free Speech, buddy!" is way more engaging within the right of center content creator sphere. Day after day more and more lunatics are being exposed as they cheer for age verified internet access. Way more relevant than: "Eric July is selling comics again guys, can you believe this guy? Selling books like some kind of... comic creator---or something." or "Renie is a self motivating woman, and that's just... unacceptable." or "Did you know that Vaughn Coleman is a young man? How dare he be born after me. What a CRIMINAL! I bet he laughed about that chicken biscuit."

And the only reason the dungeoneers are "back on the menu" is because of the Pitt omnibus campaign and @Alazmat made that video.

He had their attention due to his comics being "War Bonds", take advantage of that and ask people what kind of story they would like to read. Make a poll or something. So the idea of a publicity stunt like ComicsGate is that after you grab customer's attention with it, you hold that attention with quality comics delivered in a timely fashion. As a marketing stunt, ComicsGate was great. However, the follow thru didn't work, because ComicsGate couldn't actually compete with Marvel/DC and the larger indies. I mean, I look at what Meyer is doing lately. He's shilling a lot of mainstream comics, not competing with them. This is because he doesn't really have his own comics to talk about. He sometimes will come out with a half-baked, bad idea for a comic that sounds like a mentally challenged teenager came up with it. Those don't matter anyway, because they don't become actual comics. Currently, I don't consider him to really be in the comics business..

The Comicsgaters had a decent start, but they aren't growing, they've been shrinking. The only people still on board the EVS/CG train (as opposed to the hate-watchers just observing) are the sort of simpletons to whom all of the sub-Jerry Springer/Maury daytime trash TV talk show-style drama is entertaining, and some increasingly indifferent or disgruntled backers who are commenting on EVS's campaign pages wanting to know where the goods they paid for years ago are, while rolling their eyes at whatever YA book project or what have you EVS announces.

EVS and company spend more time manufacturing drama and conflict or recording hours long livestreams where they rant and rave about rival creators, trying to talk tough while simultaneously sounding like gossipy high school girls, than actually working on any projects. EVS seems to put in more work announcing new projects than actually getting any of his previous ones finished.

That sad conflict-mongering and the behavior of the more pathetic goon fans and CG "creators" has filtered out or scared off most reasonable fans and readers, leaving behind some low-IQ YouTube addicted dum-dums, who are actually entertained by and in some cases gleefully participate in the pathetic attempts at whipping up drama. EVS has squeezed all he can out of CG and what little is left is being shared amongst some mainstream has-beens and never-weres hoping to eke out some meager paydays from the suckers who are left as the number of backers dwindles more and more.

You bring up an excellent question, and it's a question that needed to be asked.

The answer is, no, i am not seeking to change anyone's mind. All i am doing is preserving the events and history of this retarded movement for outside observers (some of whom have popped up in my comments in my videos, including one guy who knew of CG in passing and got reamed on Reddit for defending CG, and it wasn't until he saw my main CG doc that he realized why CG had a bad rap.) I even had people commenting in my latest video who weren't aware about the contents of the Eric July "night letter" to Ethan, and recently some artists familiar to the CG scene, on a livestream, saw my Pitt documentary and were blown away at the receipts in the video.

CG is a small pimple in the wider scope of indie comics. But there is a lot to be learned, a lot of valuable lessons found within the annals of CG, and I hate for its history to be hijacked by propagandists. This is why I thought what Dan Lawlis was doing (tweeting that the history of CG was about good books and pushing out those doing bad books) was nefarious.
