Is anyone actually recommending One Piece to Richard? It looks to me more like he did his out of touch old man thing attacking a piece of popular media and people foolishly decided to defend it to him. Really One Piece fans shouldn't consider it a negative that Richard hates it, if anything that is a plus.

People seeing a character like this and then wondering why preachy trans folx in their comics aren't received positively, is hilariously reductive of the bigger issue. I always took Bon Clay to be loosely inspired by Dr. Frank-n-Furter of Rocky Horror Picture Show, as a larger than life character that commands every scene they are in. Their actions and how they impact the plot command more attention than identity politics.

Yes, there is a double standard. Because you guys created one. The well got poisoned from all the preachy "wypepo bad, trans folx good" style of political browbeating in the funny comics, and instead of trying to make good on the betrayal of trust of your fan base, you instead get journos to go out and try to convince people that the well water is totally refreshing and not poisoned while actually hating your fanbase and not understanding how or why you would need to restore any trust. People have moved on to other mediums and prefer to see you crashing and burning as their new entertainment.
 
Richard wants to argue that One Piece is bad because its too many pages and been going on too long.

This is the same richard who has been obsessively following things like for example X-men for longer than One Piece has been published. Making an argument that manga is inferior based on series length compared to lets say western capeshit comics is just nonsense.

There is no double standard. We did not hate queer characters. We hated when they used queer characters as an excuse to virtue signal and/or get lazy. "We made a trans character!" "Trans Visibility!" "We did not care to make them interesting or fun but if you call us lazy, we will call you a transphobe!" "Do not call out our laziness or our bullying tactics, you bigot!"

One Piece has compelling queer characters that we can all relate to. That is all we are asking for.

Yeah, if you are habitually late and you are spending more time crying about men on the internet, yeah I'd want a refund too.

Again, Manga is about quantity acting like spiderman, Batman or X-Men didn't have 3 or 4 separate titles running concurrently sometimes during the prime and alternate universes running concurrently.
