I'm all about theory posting and the Zack porn reveal had my mind going in a lot of directions. Initially, I suspected a Doug Ernst gayop but your guess is absolutely valid. Ethan admitted he and others knew about it (and has intimated that there's more) but blamed the "leak" on some shadowy cabal that may very well have been the CG inner circlejerk itself. IIRC, originally @FROG's comic was gonna be titled plainly Rainbow Brute, but the owners of Rainbow Brite did notice the similarities and sent him a terse letter or something of the sort. Hence, VanSciver changed it to Reignbro the Brute to distance his parody at least a reasonable bit from the inspiration IP.. Apparently part of a case of not learning from other person's mistakes because Zack later launched Comic the Comic and also learned midway thru that he just legally couldn't...

I remember, at the time, that it was suspected that Comic Book Hut was behind the leak, as part of his crashout from Doug Ernst not promoting his comic book after the gayops he did for Doug. I don't recall that ever being ruled out as a possibility, but I don't follow anything that CBH did, so maybe it was.
